Hydrolyzed Lupine Protein is a clear light-yellow or orange-yellow solution with a characteristic odor. It contains low molecular weight purified White Lupin (Lupinus albus) peptides obtained from lipid-free seeds using a biotechnological process which eliminates the polysaccharides that may cause the secondary reactions of glycation.

The hydrolyzation process includes unit steps of dissolution of vegetable proteins, enzymatic hydrolysis, and ultrafiltration, producing peptides containing 5 or 6 amino acids on average.

Hydrolyzed Lupine Protein is a useful ingredient that prevents chronic photoaging or acute sunbathing incorporated in protective daycare creams of sunscreen products. In addition, it can prevent certain skin inflammations or irritations.

Hydrolyzed Lupine Protein is an inhibitor of MMPs including collagenase and gelatinase. Recent scientific findings have stressed the role of certain MMP (Matrix Metalloproteinases) in the breakdown of proteins in the extracellular matrix exposed to low or high-dose solar irradiation or to inflammation.
