DT: Please share Overall Performance in Year 2022

Sanjeev: In spite of the surge in global inflation and other obstacles like the shutdown in China, Acer has experienced significant revenue growth. I can further add that, in our 23-year Indian journey, this is the best revenue-producing year for Acer India. All of our segments, whether commercial or consumer, have experienced steady growth in 2022. In 2023, we project even better growth.

DT: What all features make your brand better than others?

Sanjeev: At Acer, we truly believe in two guiding principles: first, offering cutting-edge technology at an affordable price, and second, empowering people with technology to break barriers. As a result, Acer typically introduces latest products first on a global basis.

Additionally, we committed to producing goods under the Make in India programme using our

top-notch manufacturing standards, which are equal to those used by other nations, in order to meet consumer demands for performance and quality. In India, we already manufacture tablets, desktops, and all-in-one PCs. With the help of Make in India initiatives, we are now able to create our entire line of PC products, starting with the TravelMate series laptop and moving on to the Aspire 3 series laptop for the mass market.

DT: Please share few sales tips for channel community.

Sanjeev: If channel sales are managed effectively, we believe they may help a company expand and prosper quickly. However, the tactic goes beyond simply shipping things and crossing one’s fingers. Success depends on carefully constructing a distribution channel network and taking the right steps to develop a strong, ongoing connection with each channel partner.

I believe some of the points with channel partners can keep in mind are - Understand how consumers think, connect with customers on a

personal level, have in-depth knowledge about the products you sell, be ready for objection handling, sell the right product- do not oversell or undersell the product, and finally build a relationship not a transaction with the customer.

DT: How do you take care of channel margins & profitability?

Sanjeev: We are able to offer superior margin structures due to our manufacturing expertise and Make in India initiatives. Since there is less competition when we introduce new technologies to the market, there is always a potential to achieve larger profitability margins. Customers will only have a few options when we introduce advanced technology to the market. Additionally, this aids channels in maintaining margins and profitability. It was this year only, when we got awarded the contract of a Master System Integrator by Tamil Nadu FibreNet Corporation Limited (TANFINET), to implement the BharatNet Phase-II project in the

districts demarcated under Package A in Tamil Nadu. Additionally, our Passive Product portfolio saw encouraging demand coming in from enterprises in various segments including, oil and gas, hospitality, FMCG, pharma, healthcare, education etc.

DT: What vision or features make your brand better than others?

Ashish: We will say “different from others”. Polycab is an organization, that bears a proud legacy of serving people

As a new entrant in the data-market with end-to-end Copper and Fiber solution, we can proudly say that we always have had better FY than the last one. With strong GTM-plans in place, we expect exponential growth in the times to come.

As part of that initiative, we developed the award-winning Seagate SkyHawk Partner App, a first-of-its-kind solution for video and imaging applications that supports our partner community across the Indian market. It helps partners calculate the storage needs and investment required on the spot and assists with online warranty service booking, tracking facilities, and instant connectivity to SeaCare centres. So far, our app has received over 40,000 downloads and more than 16,000 registrations in India.

DT: What is the key partner program you keep on running to support channel partners across India?

Sameer: We also have the Seagate Partner Programme to connect with customers and partners in the markets. We continue to conduct comprehensive training sessions, seminars, and co-marketing initiatives to address any new opportunities.

Sanjoy: LCD monitor trade is one of the highly specialized segments in the monitor sector. Being in a highly competitive industry, domain knowledge and in-depth understanding of the market is extremely important to make a place in this space. Additionally, being updated with the latest technology, trends and industry will be extremely helpful for growth in the industry.

DT: Please share the Overall Performance in the Year 2022.

Sanjoy: It has been an interesting year for the brand ViewSonic and its monitor segment. 2022 started with the sharp fall in panel price resulting in a slow start to the year. Furthermore, for certain cases the cost was reduced to 40% to 50%. However, keeping up with the constant demand among the users we were able to manage a growth of around 30% YoY on sell out (Revenue basis)

while our Unit growth is more than 50% YoY. The brand was able to maintain the ASP of 2021.

Additionally, we have also expanded our footprints to 200 SI/VARs and expanded reach to 72 + active General Trade Channel partners (T2) & 900+ T3 partners in the top 8 cities in India.

DT: What features/vision make your brand better than others?

Sanjoy: ViewSonic has been a global provider of visual solutions for the last 35 years, offering premium-quality products across the globe. It has been poised to create values in the system and strengthens its position in the display market with quick and effective customer services and international warranty of 5 years on all products. With proper sync of technology, infrastructure and values, the display brand has created an online platform bringing employee, partner, customer at one faceless digital platform to enhance the value of employee, respect for business partners & connect closely

with the customers. Indian market is one of their major focuses, therefore, it will soon be establishing Make in India production facility for monitors.

Bijoy: We have been growing at a steady pace in 2022 and just to make sure the pace doesn’t come down from post-covid, we had all plan in place. During pandemic, there was an unusual spike in the overall business due to the sudden surge in requirement of routers and networking products to always stay connected for WFH and LFH.

DT: How do you take care of channel margins & profitability?

Bijoy: Channel has become very competitive in today’s times especially with introduction of online e-com websites. This of course has some effect on their margins. But at TP-Link we make sure that there are always some rewards like foreign trips, gold coins etc to make them feel recognized towards their effort to develop

and sell our brand. We also do have specific rebate structures to keep partners margins protected and push their profitability towards a sustainable level.

DT: Please share target revenue or growth target to achieve by end of 2022.

Bijoy: We always look to grow double digits for sure and that is what is planned. Compared to the surge in the pandemic it will be challenging but the team is geared up especially with the Make in India initiative and many new product introductions in the market. These initiatives will help us to maintain and upscale our previous years performances.

DT: What are the some key features that make your brand better than others?

Bijoy: Ability to adapt faster to the changing times and a vision to connect everything and

everyone through our brand is the strategy we implement always. We are always a consumercentric brand which learns the need of the customer and accordingly acts to make our product better or release new products to suit customer needs.

Bijoy: Sales is always about observation and action. Observe what is around you, what your client or customer needs and then act accordingly by providing them exactly what is required. We keep our channel partners wellinformed to arm and prepare them for dealing with the changing consumer needs, market dynamics and educating them on Western Digital products and solutions. In order to do so, we conduct a variety of channel partner programmes to capitalise on a wide range of market opportunities. We also help them connect with customers more effectively. Our SanDisk League of Heroes (SLH) programme,

for example, acknowledges and rewards highperforming consumer channel partners, whereas our MyWD Partner incentive programme enables and promotes partners who sell storage drives, NAS, and surveillance/smart video systems.

Khalid: Western Digital does not disclose its revenues from a country perspective, but we can tell you that India continues to contribute quite significantly and is one of the most important growth markets for Western Digital.

Rajshekhar: We believe that channel can make a huge profit if they are guided correctly by experts. We keep on organizing training sessions for partners to help them gain knowledge of the products and the best strategies to sell them. We also invite them to join us in events such as webinar or awards ceremonies to make our relationship closer. In addition, we propose incentives to motivate them to achieve their sales goal, this method not only fortify the relationship, but also help them in the difficult time.

Rajshekhar: The business landscape has changed and channel needs to learn and adapt with the time. Below are few tips that channel partners can follow to drive more business:

• Focus on SMBs and SIs with limited budget: With our competitive prices, we can look for SMBs or SIs that require a small computer for any business application purpose, such as digital signage, online meetings, office work, kiosks, education or other.

• Cross-industry alliance: Introduce partners to participate in the various bidding or connect with potential customers, so that partners can obtain additional benefit.

• Reward program: Propose incentives to motivate partners to achieve their sales goal and increase sales.

• Use the media to promote: Stimulate 2B/2C sales by recommending products to people looking for HTPC or working/studying from home through online advertising and leading local magazines.

Dipesh: Kaspersky is very bullish owing to factors such as the growing preference for the bringyour-own-device (BYOD) policy at workplaces, the surging need for digitisation, and shifting toward a multi-cloud environment, and the rising demand for data protection. The factors driving market growth come from the awareness. Due to these factors, BFSI, retail, IT & telecom, healthcare, and other organisations will focus on adopting

advanced cyber security solutions to safeguard themselves from targeted cyberattacks in 2022. The most incredible growth will be in the enterprise security market’s endpoint and mobile security segments. There is also an increased focus on cybercrime by the governments in the form of new cyber security laws.

Our aim is to maintain and improve our lead by offering a mix of innovative products at a competitive price.

Vinay: There are many to list here, but with the launch of every ASUS product, we strive to deliver the best experience possible and add value to the customer’s purchase. For instance, our monitors are equipped with the Eye Care technology that comes with a blue light filter and ASUS’ flicker-free feature that reduces eye strain. We also want our tech-savvy customers to enjoy more flexibility and freedom, which is why our new ROG X670E motherboard range comes with Dynamic OC Switcher and Ryzen Core Flex features for extracting more performance from the CPU.

DT: How do you take care of channel margins & profitability?

Vinay: Channel is important to us as most of the Components business is still channel driven. One of the ways we help our partners to maintain the margin and profitability is

to maintain pricing across both online and offline mediums. This way, our partners are safeguarded against pricing wars that happen between the online and offline channels. Moreover, we regularly introduce schemes to incentivize them for additional sell-ins that can help them to improve their profitability.

DT: Please share few sales tips for channel community.

Vinay: The channel community is adept at the changing trends and market scenarios but one thing that can help them in every situation is the correct product knowledge. Knowing the product is crucial as it can lead the customer to make the right decision and convert it into a sale. Another tip that can help the channel is to increase the mindshare by effectively communicating about the products and new launches via social media and other avenues.

DT: Please share Overall Performance in Year 2022.

Krushna: The year 2022, has drastically changed the ways and means, we do business. The pandemic has reset the ways we live, work, and do business, accelerating some long-term shifts and setting new changes. The success of ‘Work From Home’ during lockdown has encouraged many organizations to embrace digital transformation. At Digisol, in the post-pandemic scenario, we have digitized all possible manual processes, and built an agile supply chain and inventory control. We have been seeing tremendous growth in our business, especially for our FTTH line of products. Since most people have been working from home, it has been captured that data demand from residences arose which further opened doors for Fiber to the Home products and solutions.

DT: Please share target revenue or growth percentage to achieve by end of 2022.

Krushna: 2022 looks like a year of immense opportunities as we cater to emerging opportunities in Data centres, Smart Cities, etc complementing new technologies like WiFi6, IoT etc. For E.g our New Active Networking Solutions along with our Industry leading FTTH GPON Solutions, Structure cabling solutions and

keystones will help scale our business and we look at a growth of 20-25% overall

DT: What are the some key features that make your brand better than others?

Krushna: We are proud to say that we have a legacy of 35 years in India and are one of the leading Indian Networking Brand that is flag bearers of “Make in India” and the first one to do so. Krushna: We provide very good margins to our Channel partners. Digisol has introduced them to Digisol’s various after sales services and programs. Like every year, this year also we will undertake various initiatives to engage with our partners.

We plan to come up with new offers and schemes every quarter. Besides this we will also offer, loyalty and incentive schemes to motivate the channel partners. Our association with our channel partners has always been extremely rewarding, and we are looking forward to growing with our partners.

DT: Please share few sales tips for channel community.

Krushna: As we can see a lot of sales opportunities in Secondary and tertiary markets, we would recommend that partners should target these markets by doing more retail branding and displaying more products at the sales point. Digisol has always been a strong believer in growing along with its Partners and hence has taken various initiatives like Digisol’s loyalty program in which they can take benefit of our various Sales Schemes for both the Active and Passive range of products for Retailer Partners and End user like Electrician / Technicians. Also, with the help of DITT (Digisol Institute of Technical Training) they can get quality training programs which are always in sync with the market demand. These initiatives will give them the ability to add value to the solution they offer to their customers and also get new business opportunities.

According to the Data Security Council of India (DSCI), India’s cybersecurity industry nearly doubled in size amid the pandemic. To expand our digital security capabilities, ESET will also be venturing into a new segment as we aim to work with telcos and ISPs in India to provide DNS-level protection to their customers.

Secondly, build long term relationships with customers to ensure a high satisfaction rate. At ESET, we have high renewal rates – up to 90% in some markets, because customers are highly satisfied with our products and the service they get from our resellers.

Subodh: We recommend our partners to have full knowledge of the products they are dealing in, including features, benefits & applications so that they can explain the same to the customers. It’s always good to have the product brochures, leaflets handy while talking to the customers. And secondly, every customer is unique with different requirements, hence the product solution should be provided to them accordingly.

DT: Please share Overall Performance in Year 2022

Subodh: The year 2022 has been a significant year for Microtek International and as a company, we have done exceptionally well. We stayed focused on our revenue and have been able to register remarkable growth over the past year. In the product launches, we launched 6 new series in the Home UPS/Inverter category with premium looks & advanced technology. We also introduced Heavy Load Wires & Cable for our customers, which has further helped us in our overall growth. Very recently we launched solar power conditioning units (PCUs) with rated capacities of 2.2 kVA/24 V and 3.5 kVA/48 V. Both products

are designed to run the maximum load. These new products showcased our strength and dedication towards excelling in technologies for consumers. We believe innovation is the key and with that motive, we brought these products. We also invested heavily in the R&D department of the company which is the backbone of any company. In the financial year 2022, we registered 26% growth with gross revenue of Rs.1700 crore. This shows that we had a great business in 2022.

DT: Please share target revenue or growth percentage to achieve by end of 2022.

Subodh: We are targeting a growth of over 25 percent for the current financial year 2022-23.

DT: What are the key features that makes your brand better than others?

Subodh: The thing which makes us stand apart is the trust we have earned during the years, be it of our customers or channel partners, or employees. We believe in nurturing relationships and give our 100% to developing the right things for the right reasons. Furthermore, we do not just believe in innovation, we live with it. We don’t shy away from experimenting, innovating products, and bringing the never

before experience for our customers. That is the reason, we are one of the most trusted brands in India. We also believe in foresightedness, as it has become the most important thing in today’s time.

We also supplied an order of 17,500 made-in-India Oxygen Concentrators (OCTs) of 10 liters capacity each to the Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC) under the PM CARES initiative, in a record time.

In a recent chat with DT, Muneer Ahmad, Vice President Sales and Marketing, ViewSonic India commented on their growth, market scenario, channel plans and much more.

DT: Please share Overall Performance in Year 2022.

Muneer: With our constant aim to offer the bestin-class products, solutions and services to our patrons, ViewSonic is continuously upgrading the technology that goes behind these products to keep up with the newer and latest trends. Owing to the evolution, we have been the leading IFP brand since 2020, and gained a market share of 55% in 2021.

Witnessing the demand and growth of our projector segment in the past couple of years, we are seeing a promising opportunity to upgrade our existing products and develop newer ones too. Since 2021, our projector segment has consistently achieved the no. 1 position for LED projectors, and we captured a market share of 62% in Q2, 2022 according to the FutureSource India reports. The overall performance was above our expectations, and we look forward to a better 2023.

DT: How do you take care of channel margins & profitability?

Muneer: We have a robust network of channel partners, and our teams continuously plan and strategize for their margins and profitability.

Extensive plans are laid out well in advance to generate maximum profits. We also help our partners with marketing collaterals and support them with activations and events to ensure the utmost business opportunities and revenue. To retain our relationship strong with our partners, we organize roadshows showcasing our existing and new editions. Experiencing a detailed demo of our products helps our partners better understand, which further entails them giving better clarity to our end consumers. This further builds a substantial commitment of our partners and endusers.

DT: Please share target revenue or growth target to achieve by end of 2022.

Muneer: We are expecting a growth of approximately 20% in the Audio-Visual segment.

DT: What features/vision make your brand better than others?

Muneer: There are a lot of features that make us stand out from our competitors and other industry peers. The technology that we use in our displays portray very different quality for our products. For our projector segment, we have our own patent feature- SuperColour+ Technology which brings a

better visual experience. We also thrive in bringing the best products with upgraded technology and a user-friendly interface. From developing and innovating various products in the audio-visual segment, we are entirely focusing on creating a robust solution in the Edtech segment. In case of IFPs, we have our own integrated software myViewBoard which gives us more competitive edge over our competitors. Addition to these, we also bring collaborative solutions in our Edtech, which are compatible with our existing products such as projectors and monitors.

DT: Please share a few sales tips for the channel community.

Muneer: Organising regular B2B and sales events to meet and engage with the partners. Adding a personal touch and building a connect with the partners and stakeholders is the key to successful business. We also conduct workshops for our sales team, as well for partners for giving them detailed insights and better understanding of the product that we sell, and to make sure they believe in it. Our constant aim for providing good quality products and always make sure are consumers are getting the best-in-class solutions and products is what we thrive upon. DT: Sales tips for channel community.

Vikram: A sales person faces a lot of pressure when trying to get their pitch heard in this intensely competitive environment. Especially if they choose to promote their product or service on numerous channels, switching between

those channels makes workflow difficult and tiresome. I recommend everyone to have a GTM strategy (Go-to-Market Strategy) which includes target market profiles, a marketing plan, and a concrete sales and distribution strategy. They should consider STP Marketing model knowledge (Segmentation, Targeting, and Positioning) which is a familiar strategic approach in modern marketing. It is one of the most commonly applied marketing models in practice, with marketing leaders crediting it for efficient, streamlined communications practice.

DT: Please share target revenue or growth percentage to achieve by end of 2022.

Vikram: We are growing at rapid pace and we plan to further escalate the growth rate. We will finish at 150 Cr from 40 Cr, a 4x Growth by end of current FY.

Our 5 years replacement warranty on all SSDs and 3 years on Motherboards are best in the industry, that also makes our customers and partners happy and confident in our products. We are able to offer these kinds of long warranties just because we are confident enough on our products good quality and lowest failure rate.

DT: How do you take care of channel margins & profitability?

Yogesh: Consistent believes in building a ‘Partner-Centric Culture’ and has channel partners across India – including all the major cities where there is growth potential. Due to our varied product portfolio our channel ecosystem enjoys a considerable good healthy margin and is quite high in double digits, therefore, it gives good profitability to the partners.

We want our channel partners to grow and reap the benefits like the brand itself. The company also provides full support to all its partners to manage best customer support and after sales services. To help customers know how, we also organise partner training programs from time to time which eventually reflects on overall profitability.

Another positive and channel friendly offering from Consistent to channel partners is Our big product basket which gives our channel partners an opportunity to earn good and healthy margin.

Yogesh: By the end of this year, Consistent aims to cover 180 cities across 24 States. We are already present in Tier 1 and Tier 2 cities with 3 lakhs population and are targeting to cover Tier 3 cities with 1 lakh population. Consistent is witnessing 4 times the sales since 2019 with double digit YoY growth. The brand strives to achieve a substantial growth percentage in terms of revenue in this financial year.

Yogesh: We believe in leadership and vision clubbed with teamwork and technological advancement in the products can make a brand promising. DT: What is your plan to strengthen your distribution business across all Indian market?

Vikas: TAG work with a channel centric approach and believe in giving outmost value oriented products to the market so that channel can have healthy business margins. Also. In order to further build our product portfolio, we will be adding 2 more well-known global brands. In addition to that, we are also planning to add Gaming monitors from next quarter.

The demand for our products is huge but to further scale our business through improving the product awareness, we have successfully conducted several channel training programmes this year. In upcoming quarters, we will be organizing such training programmes for our channels in various cities.

DT: What all support do you expect from the brands for greater profitability & overall company growth?

Vikas: Most of vendors with whom TAG is associated work like a family rather than principal or distributor relationship. GALAX has added gears and adding more new innovative products this year to strengthen their product range. Apart from it, Teamgroup adding more value to the business and allowing us to capitalize on the opportunities. Also, Teamgroup is creating several world records on new 4090 series. Recently we have hired country head to drive business independently as we have advantage of customizing products and needs of channel with our 15+ years of

experience in same domain. We are pure gaming value added distributors and not box movers –we believe in creating value in relationship

DT: What as per you is two biggest challenge for distribution business in India?

Vikas: The biggest challenge is desperate sellers who over dump inventory without understanding market size. For some companies, it’s just selling by compromising on product quality and features, they win business for short term with low prices and substandard products and feature, but in long run they lose because consumer experience drives business in longer run.

DT: Please share target revenue or growth percentage to achieve by end of 2022.

Vikas: We have achieved quite impressive growth in our journey so far and we will definitely grow due to our strong market strategies. As far as growth is concerned, this year, we are looking at flat growth.

DT: Tell us about the new milestone of becoming No.1 in the SSD segment?

Tejashwar: As per the top analyst firm, TrendForce we are number one third-party supplier of SSDs in the channel for all of 2021. According to TrendForce, Kingston accounted for a massive 26 percent of the 127 million units shipped in 2021. It’s an honor to achieve this top ranking as Kingston celebrates its 35-year anniversary. From the beginning, Kingston’s focus and core sales strength have been with our customers and channel partners worldwide as we embody the ‘Kingston Is With You’ working attitude. We are also one of the leaders in third party USB drive market consistently. DT: What is your plan to strengthen your distribution business across all Indian market?

Manoj: Channel Partners are the backbone of our business. We always believe in the strong relationship and therefore we are always there to support our partners in every stream. We majorly focus on the marketing activities for our partners whether it would be – online & Offline. There are incentive schemes too on a quarterly basis, as per the objective

defined to the channel partners. It includes Domestic & international trips, Special packages, and exclusive offers on products. We are also focused to strengthen our bond with the partners as we are organizing technical events in multiple cities and providing technical training to partners and their staff. Our such efforts help them in better understanding and they confidently pitch our products according to customer requirements.

DT: What all support do you expect from the brands for greater profitability & overall company growth?

Manoj: Distributors expect manufacturers to react to market changes quickly and design, create new, exciting products as per the demand. A distributor is always looking for that kind of WOW response from their clients. We as a distributor also expect that there should be proper marketing and brand

awareness initiative from the brand so that customers are aware about the products.

DT: What as per you is two biggest challenges for distribution business in India?

Manoj: The Indian IT distribution market is huge and there are many opportunities for the market players. However, the challenges are still there that obstruct the market players to grow at full strength. The two biggest challenges for distribution business are competition with online Market places and disrupted supply chain.

DT: Please share target revenue or growth percentage to achieve by end of 2022.

Manoj: Based on our achievements currently, market trend and growing market sentiments, we are now focusing on 20 % growth by the end of 2022.

DT: Please share Overall Performance in Year 2022.

C Sukumaran: Aided by our full line up strategy, we are proud to have maintained market leadership in the DILC segment with 50% market share and No. 1 share in the DILC global market for 19 consecutive years from 2003. We have also focused our energies into launching products and market activations in line with industry trends to engage audiences in unique ways. This has resulted in us witnessing double digit growth across emerging segments including Education and Vlogging and an astounding four times more growth in the mirrorless segment compared to 2019. On the printing side, ever since the onset of the pandemic, we have witnessed a massive surge in home printing and photo printing.

DT: Please share target revenue or growth target to achieve by end of 2022.

C Sukumaran: In the last five years, we have observed expansion in the professional segment fostered especially by the growth of wedding photography in Tier-II, III and IV areas. With more and more people viewing photography as a lucrative career option, we expect to target 2X++ growth in the mirrorless segment this year as compared to 2021. We also see a lot of potential in professional imaging devices in the film industry and we look forward to strengthening our foothold further in the booming cinema segment. We look forward to empowering

cinematographers with the latest technological innovations and expect 4x more growth in the cinema segment. In the printing segment, we have experienced a significant rise in demand for our inkjet printers in the home segment with ‘Work from Home’ and ‘Learn from Home’ culture.

DT: Please share few sales tips for the channel community.

C Sukumaran: With many businesses now adopting a hybrid work model, it is essential for channel partners and retailers to maintain constant customer connect adopting an “omnichannel” approach which combines both online and offline platforms. Along with this, it is essential for partners to constantly upskill their employees across locations to stay on top of industry trends as well make the most of new business avenues.

DT: What features/vision makes your brand better than others?

C Sukumaran: From an innovation standpoint, we have introduced ground-breaking technology in the past few years which has completely transformed the imaging industry. Whether it was the launch of the EOS VR System with incredible 180°VR content or our entry into the APS-C Sensor market to make mirrorless cameras more economical. The PIXMA G Series has been gaining good response in the market and is widely accepted at home as well as office

segments because of its lower running cost and higher return on investment. We have strengthened our retail presence by unveiling Version 4 of our flagship Image Square stores and opening more than 300 Canon PIXMA concept stores and more than 1500+ OIC signature stores nationwide. We continue to bolster our presence in the industry by increasing touchpoints.

DT: How do you take care of channel margins & profitability?

C Sukumaran: We have consistently nurtured the channel partner program which has led to its tremendous growth of a strong network of 140+ distributors and 4500+ channel partners. This year we have expanded our partner ecosystem further with a special emphasis on micro-distribution and regional outreach.

Their profitability too remains of key importance to us and we ensure the same as we are constantly on the lookout for new business opportunities to help them expand their product portfolios into emerging segments. Along with this, we set up exhaustive training sessions so that they can understand the latest industry trends. For instance, we have helped our partners set up Google Business Profiles accounts starting with our Canon PIXMA Zones. This helps them have a digital identity and consumers can seamlessly discover their products and services.

Himanshu: In the year 2022, we geared up to do our best in terms of revenue growth and were able to do 600Cr so far. It was a challenging year as users were waiting for components prices to come down and the sales were slow all year round.

DT: What is your plan to strengthen your distribution business across all Indian market?

Himanshu: To strengthen our distribution business, we need to be highly aggressive on Tier 2 and Tier 3 markets and in order to do so we are strengthening our bonds with our vendors and partners. Even on marketing front we have geared up to enlarge our reach and become available in every micro location throughout the country.

DT: What all support do you expect from the brands for greater profitability & overall company growth?

Himanshu: The brands have already been a great support so far and we need to keep our relationship with them healthy and profitable. Our association with brands like XPG, MSI, Razer, Deepcool, Lian Li, Arctic gives us an upper hand of the competition as we get to be in control of almost everything from distribution to fullfledged marketing. This kind of support allow us to market their products better as we fully understand the need of the Indian audience. And, with ever rising consumers demands we expect brands to provide the best they can offer.

DT: Please share target revenue or growth percentage to achieve by end of 2022.

Himanshu: We are aiming to achieve a target revenue of 750Cr by the end of 2022.

DT: What as per you is two biggest challenges for distribution business in India?

Himanshu: In a world of high competition and low margins, this is a difficult time for the distribution industry. Supply chain uncertainties, inventory issues, but the biggest challenge here is ever increasing demands of customers and e-commerce takeover. The E-commerce industry has greatly impacted the B2B industry and distributors need to establish a formidable online presence to stay ahead of the competition. Moreover, the rising demands of consumers with each passing year forces distributors to act fast. While some distributions businesses are ready others are yet to understand what is going wrong with their business.

Vijay: This year have been strong for us projector sales in India. Currently Optoma is world’s no. 1 4K UHD projector brand we have retained the No.1 position in 4K UHD, laser projector & Laser TV projector categories in India as well during the Q2 of 2022. According to the recent world-wide projector market information expert Pacific Media Associates (PMA) report, Optoma enjoyed 49% in 4K UHD segment, 43% market share in Laser projector segment & 60% market share in Laser TV Projector segments due to its impressive sales in the home projector segments.

The overall projector market has witnessed good growth in the last one year, according to the PMA report. The brand saw its share in 4K UHD segment grow by 2.5 times, while the laser projector segment has registered 9 times growth in comparison to 3 times growth of the market compared to 2021. The report has also highlighted that Optoma is in top 3 brand in overall projector market

DT: Please share target revenue or growth percentage to achieve by the end of 2022.

Vijay: We would like to end 2022 on the strong note

that we have been maintaining throughout the year. The targeted growth is to retain the no 1 position in the important categories of Laser and Home. Now we are launching a complete line up of mainstream laser projectors we hope to increase our share in Education and corporate segments as well. We are looking to increase our revenue by more than 2.5 times for calendar year getting over in 2022.

DT: What are some key features that make your brand better than others?

Vijay: Optoma is one of the leading projector brands in Pro-AV as well as home entertainment categories. We are simply guided by the vision of ours ‘To deliver engaging visual experiences for a connected world’. With this vision Optoma is dedicated in delivering reliable, flexible, innovative solutions for multiple purposes. We offer a wide range of products, from LED pico projectors to high-end laser proAV projectors empowered by smart integrated platform and remote-control systems. The projectors are capable of producing vibrating images in all conditions. Long lasting lamp life is another feature of Optoma which is making the projectors very unique in nature. In addition to this, we also equip our projectors with diversified resolution options to cater various corporate, home and education requests.

DT: How do you take care of channel margins & profitability?

Vijay: We ensure margins at each and every level to the channel partners who are being associated with Optoma and promoting Optoma. We sustain our partners along with us by offering good margins to make profits. We structured our partner programs to ensure maximum profitability of the partners without any effect on price point at the same time.

DT: Please share a few sales tips for the channel community.

Vijay: I would suggest them to create a convincing offer for the customers. Among this cut-throat competition channel partners need to create a personal relationship with the customers to understand their needs and offer products accordingly. They should provide a convenient shopping experience to the customers. Partners need to describe the brand, connect with them and offer apt solutions. I would suggest them to go an extra mile, utilize resources to connect with the customers for better sales.

The brand has achieved various milestones during its journey so far. In a recent conversation with DT, Sanjay Kumar Kalirona, CEO and Founder, Gizmore shared important details about company’s growth, product offerings, market scenario, challenges and a lot more.

DT: Please share Overall Performance in Year 2022

Sanjay: 2022 has been a learning year for us at Gizmore. We have been consistent with our efforts and have been rewarded suitably. We were hoping for a more bullish growth trajectory and have been able to record steady growth. The festive period has been enriching for us, with our recently launched smartwatches getting immense love from the customers. We launched the GIZFIT Glow with Always on AMOLED display just before the festive season and it would sell out in no time. During the sale days, we had to constantly work on updating our stocks. We continue to perform well even in the home audio space and register positive growth.

We started 2022 with a resolve to pivot our channel strategy. Having established ourselves in the offline market, we have been looking to carve a niche in the online segment. Gizmore has tied up with Flipkart for its recent launches, and our share from the online segment has grown tremendously compared to the previous year.

DT: Please share target revenue or growth percentage to achieve by end of 2022.

Sanjay: Now that the pandemic is a thing of the past, we had set an ambitious target for the

current year. We were hoping to touch Rs 100 crore in revenue in the financial year 2022-2023. We are confident that we will be able to achieve 80% of our target.

DT: How do you take care of channel margins & profitability?

Sanjay: The current geopolitical situation has had a significant impact on profitability and margins. The Russia-Ukraine war, fluctuation in the dollar prices and supply chain constraints caused by China’s zero COVID-19 policy have impacted all players in the segment, and we are no different. We are very fluid with our approach and constantly on our toes to find the best possible solutions. We are always looking to work with Indian vendors. Over time, we have partnered with many Indian vendors, and together we continue to work on optimising the cost and offering maximum value.

DT: What are some key features that make your brand better than others?

Sanjay: Gizmore is a home-grown brand that has focused on premium-affordable products. We identified the need gaps in the market and offered the right product mix to Indian consumers. In the post-pandemic world, there is an increased focus on wellness, and our smartwatch range

is helping consumers manage their health better at affordable prices. This year, we have also onboarded Dinesh Karthik as the brand ambassador. A cricket par excellence, Karthik has a considerable youth connection and has helped us fortify our positioning as a youth and health focussed brand.

We are working towards and adapting sustainable packaging solutions as well. For smartwatches we have already adopted reusable and recycled tin packaging solutions, soon other SKU will also follow in other sustainable material thinking about climate and environmental impact.

DT: Please share your bonding with channel community.

Sanjay: Our channel partners have been our backbone. We have nurtured our relationship with them and won their trust. For the channel community, the dealer is the first customer, and we believe in having a good connection and relationship with them. Our motto is to go beyond margins and have mutual trust and understanding. We also focus on offering timely service to our customers. We engage with our channel partners on a frequent basis and have a dialogue with them on their needs and challenges. At Gizmore, we believe personal connection with a consumer can go a long way.

Pawan: We are focused on growing our presence by mainly focusing on the offline channel. As a result, it is all the more vital for us to build a robust channel network that meets the requirements of all stakeholders. We have 1000+ distributors in our channel network and 25000 outlets across India. We regularly introduce various channel schemes that motivate the channel partners to achieve higher sales. At the same time, we are conscious of the importance of channel margins, and our focus is to ensure that they are well maintained. We price our

products in a manner that we can maintain profitability and channel margins effectively.

DT: Please share a few sales tips for the channel community.

Pawan: Channel partners are the backbone of the consumer durables industry. Our experience has been that it is critical for a channel partner to have a strong network which the brand can utilize to push sales. Your partners must be consistent in providing a superior customer experience. At the same time, the channel partners need a proactive and efficient counter sales team.

DT: Please share the target revenue or growth percentage to achieve by the end of 2022.

Pawan: We had set ourselves a target to achieve 30% growth in 2022, and we are well on track to achieve it during this period.

Mr. Bansal: The overall performance in year 2022 is very good for Uniline. Year 2022 has been very successful for us so far and we have clocked a good business this year. The business results for year 2022 have been very satisfactory and encouraging for us. The overall landscape of this marlet is very challenging and full of competition but we strive to offer best quality products and best

after service that helps us in sustaining in the market.

DT: How do you take care of channel margins & profitability?

Mr. Bansal: Currently we are focusing on to supply the product through Channel Partner and also see that the products are supplied with latest features, reliable and at the same time cost effective. We are taking care of channel margin like supply of system on credit, turnover margin, discounts, etc.

DT: Please share target revenue or growth percentage to achieve by end of 2022.

Mr. Bansal: As we have seen good business results in CY 2022 so far so we are very optimistic for growing at rapid pace by end of the year. Our hopes are quite high and we see enormous opportunities in our domain.

The demand for energy products is steadily increasing which helps us grow despite so competitive market. Due to such a massive demand and government’s focus on Made in India, we are expecting to achieve growth percentage of around 45% by end of 2022.

DT: What are the key features that make your brand better than others?

Mr. Bansal: We have been always ahead in bringing best solutions by investing hugely in our R&D. Our solutions are very innovative and as per the requirement of customers need. We have also launched Lithium-Ion battery-based UPS system. The main features of LithiumIon based UPS systems are, Compact design, Longer backup time, Better efficiency & better performance and warranty for 5 years. We have recently supplied custom build UPS system for Aircraft Carrier INS Vikrant, which is really a proud moment for us.

Rajesh: We expect brands to provide us optimum inventory to fulfill market demand efficiently, and maintain revenue streams from across the regions.

DT: Please share Overall Performance in Year 2022.

Rajesh: We witnessed a double digit growth in FY 2022. While all our business verticals grew steadily, enterprise, PC, memory and storage divisions brought the higher revenues to the business. Our newly started

embedded division is also growing steadily, and we expect to expand this business vertical with new brands collaboration. Overall our business grew above the industry growth, and we continue to maintain this momentum in FY 2023.

DT: What is your plan to strengthen your distribution business across all Indian market?

Rajesh: We will focus on new brand collaborations and expansion of our solutions offerings. We intend to increase our penetration in the C and D class cities by setting up satellite offices. We also intend to spread our channel base and launch innovative channel initiatives.

DT: What are two biggest challenges for distribution business in India?

Rajesh: The demand for computer hardware and networking products has slowed down post Covid -19 pandemic. The refurbished IT hardware market is gaining momentum again. We expect resurgence of DIY/assembled PCs especially in the Gaming sector.

DT: Please share target revenue or growth target to achieve by end of 2022.

Rajesh: We are doing extremely well and we achieved 100 per cent growth in all business verticals.

DT: Please share your Overall Performance in the Year 2022.

Nishant: This year is quite promising in terms of the frequency of IT Networking projects we received. Key achievement this year includes conducting regular Partner meets to empower them with recent products and technology we incorporated into our portfolio, successful on-time integration of IT projects at various client sites, and impressive sales figures achieved in various IT domains resulting in recognition as the top-performing partner from the brands we are connected with. Apart from this we successfully managed to engage with upcountry markets and adequately created an impressive presence in such regions.

DT: What is your plan to strengthen your distribution business across all Indian markets?

Nishant: This year we are focusing more on vendor tie-ups and expanding the existing portfolio. Also, our focus is to make the channel stronger for existing and long-associated partners like R&M, Alcatel, Vertiv, and Netshell. The idea is to get into a complete solution providing consultancy, and pre-and post-sales support, especially in a highly competitive and price-

centric segment like networking. In addition to this, we are diligently working to increase our ties and coverage in Tier-II cities and government sectors. Our sales and marketing engines are working together to identify and execute through geography-specific partnerships.

DT: What all support do you expect from the brands for greater profitability & overall company growth?

Nishant: We as a channel partner expect that brands will maintain uniformity and continuity in conducting partner meets and training programs so that we can encourage our associated linkups to get involved more in such activities. Along with these constructive incentive schemes, offering adequate Marketing development funds and proactive IT support are some key areas that need to be considered by the brands for mutual profitability.

DT: Please share the target revenue or growth percentage to achieve by end of 2022.

Nishant: This year we have set a benchmark to grow at least 25% than the previous year.

DT: What as per you is the two biggest challenges for the distribution business in India?

Nishant: There are two challenges in the distribution business-

1. Mismatch in Customer & Supplier Demands: If there is a customer who requires a set of products immediately and you don’t happen to have them, you will ask your supplier for the goods. However, the supplier requires a lead time to deliver it.

This mismatch in customer and supplier demands not only causes a delay in customer service but eventually leads to overstocking or a shortage of goods.

Ketan: In the financial year 2021-22, we reported a consolidated Total Income of Rs. 947.81 Cr., as compared to Rs.526.32 Cr. in Financial year 2020-21 which is a year-on-year growth of 80.08%. Net profit for FY 2021-22 was reported at Rs. 19.25 Cr., compared to Rs.9.41 Cr. FY 2020-21 represents a year-onyear rise of 105.22 %.

DT: What is your plan to strengthen your distribution business across all Indian market?

Ketan: Millennials and Gen Z constitute the majority population in India, and they value experiences above everything. Using our 3C’s, we create great Content, which builds a Community, and once the community and content are in place, Commerce will take place gradually. To build a community, you require access to partners, scale and skills,

an omnichannel approach, and intimacy with the customer. We have created these pillars perfectly as a company. We will leverage our experience, expertise and knowledge of local markets to enable the best customer experience and business outcomes.

DT: What as per you is two biggest challenge for distribution business in India?

Ketan: Rapidly increasing costs due to supply chain disruptions and rising raw material prices leave distributors vulnerable to inventory and product price changes. Distributors are constantly trying to limit their cost exposure. Still, competition may make it difficult to mark up expensive inventory in a market continuously trying to adjust to the post-covid trends.

Distribution channels in India have primarily been traditional. While the industry has some illustrious and humongous enterprises, most

distributors and channel partners lack the new-age advancements to make systems interactive and yield real-time results. While covid has forced people and companies everywhere to accelerate towards digitization, adaption is still slow, and automation costs are plenty. This hurts the business since channel members have difficulty getting an overview of the business and its growth.

DT: What all support do you expect from the brands for greater profitability & overall company growth?

Ketan: We treat our partnership with brands like a marriage. We ensure that our vision and strategy for expansion in India are a good match. We also almost always enter into an exclusivity contract so that there is greater freedom to execute events, assign distributors and conduct promotional events. This helps focus on gaining traction instead of competing with other distributors on margins.
