State Athletic Officer Has Divided Indiana Into 13 Districts for Promoting Athletics

Harry A. Leighton, athletic officer of the Indian a departmnt of the American Legion, is making things hum, athletically, in the department this year Leighton has adopted a policy of getting every Legionnaire engaged in some sort of athletic activity. He has split the state into 13 athletic districts, corr<>sp®d;r.g to the congressional districts, 1d has dist11tct athletic officers at work 1 each. Each post has its own athletic ficer working under the direction of e distric.t a11d s tate officers.

Po stmaster John J. Nolan, head of" Evansvill e 's war activities during th e vr,orld conflict, eloqu e ntly held up the I1ation's debt to the soldier. He wa s followed by Louis L. Roberts an Evansville attorney well known in veteran circles and the Rev. E. G. S. Burdette, whose son, in giving his life "in France, ; beq u eathed his name to Evansville's second Legion post. Bert Hawk ins, contact officer of the Legion in Indiana , gave a detailed accou,nt of the s ta t e o r ganization's work and ,instructed th e men present on the manner of co-operation that would bring the best results.
