CASA GRANDE, Arizona

WELCOME

Casa Grande, Arizona, is a small city of 60,000 (and counting!) residents with big things happening. It’s about an hour away from the amenities and opportunities of both Phoenix and Tucson, and it has the friendliness, convenience and affordability of a humansized community.

AGRICULTURAL ROOTS, SUSTAINABLE FUTURE

Casa Grande’s history is rooted in thousands of years of people feeding themselves and others though farming and irrigation, and it’s now at the leading edge of the shift toward sustainable industry.

Its location at the junction of Interstates 8 and 10 on the Union Pacific main line is an asset to Lucid Motors, the city’s largest employer and countless others.

DESERT GRANDEUR

Saguaro-studded Casa Grande sits in the midst of desert vistas that extend to the Casa Grande Mountains, Tabletop Mountain, Signal Peak and the Picacho Mountains. Bright days and peaceful nights create a warm and gracious lifestyle.

THE MIDDLE OF EVERYWHERE

At the heart of the Sun Corridor megaregion anchored by Phoenix and Tucson, Casa Grande also is the hub of western Pinal County, surrounded by the cities of Maricopa, Coolidge, Florence, Eloy and other communities drawing ambitious new residents and employers.

Why Casa Grande?

STRATEGIC SOUTHWEST LOCATION

Ideal Location for Business, Residents, Visitors and Tourists

The state’s lack of natural and weatherrelated disasters — such as earthquakes, hurricanes and tornadoes — makes Arizona a convenient location for companies that require employees and market access to be consistently available throughout the year.

Along with the steady climate, Arizona is so geologically sound that it’s home to America’s largest nuclear generating facility. Palo Verde Generating Station provides businesses continual access to clean, reliable energy.

Housing

One of the first questions people ask when considering a community is, “what is the real estate market like?” Real estate is notoriously fickle. The best answer is, “it depends on your point of view.” When compared with other U.S. communities, including the metropolitan Phoenix area, the housing market in Casa Grande remains very affordable with new home pricing starting in the low to mid $300s. Custom home pricing starts in the mid $500s.

Casa Grande and the surrounding area remain one of the fastest growing regions in the U.S. Proximity to two major DMAs, Phoenix and Tucson, allows residents a short 30 to 40 minute commute for work, shopping and entertainment.

Casa Grande is home to a large retirement and winter visitor population. Several age-restricted communities thrive with a host of amenities including golf, swimming pools, clubhouses, exercise facilities and to the joy of many - pickleball courts! These communities range from park models to duplex/ townhomes to single family residences.

Are single family homes not your desired lifestyle? No worries! There are several build-to-rent townhomes and apartments available with a variety of amenities.

Whether you are looking for homes on acreage for your horses or the maintenance-free lifestyle of apartments, Casa Grande has a wide assortment available!

CASA GRANDE has a home waiting for you.

Health & Medical Care

Health care is the leading industry for growth in Arizona in terms of the number and quality of jobs, says Lee McPheters, a research professor of economics at Arizona State University’s W.P. Carey School of Business.

With its large size and central location, Casa Grande is home to many of Pinal County’s medical

centers and services, including Banner Casa Grande Medical Center, a full-service hospital with a Level IV trauma center and a “pediatric prepared” emergency department. It has 177 private rooms, inpatient and outpatient care and educational and informational classes.

There are two smaller emergency and surgical hospitals in western Pinal County, Exceptional Community Hospital in Maricopa and Florence Hospital in Florence.

Primary care and specialty practices providing personalized, compassionate care are found throughout its communities.

ACCELERATING IDEAS AND SHATTERING NORMS

Casa Grande and Pinal County have leaped to the forefront of economic development in Arizona as household-name companies and innovative startups snap up affordable land here at the junction of two interstate highways, on the main Union Pacific rail line and less than an hour from Phoenix and Tucson.

This strategic location has led Casa Grande to become a hub for Arizona’s emerging electric vehicle sector, as Lucid Motors builds luxury electric sedans and SUVs and draws suppliers and related manufacturers like vehicle, vehicle parts and battery recyclers.

CASA GRANDE IS FLOURISHING

Kohler and multiple semiconductor industry suppliers are joining Lucid Motors, LKQ Corp. and longer-established manufacturers like Hexcel, Abbott, Frito-Lay, Daisy Brand and ACO Polymer Products. Significant new sites are announced at a fast clip, and global corporations including Procter & Gamble and LG Energy Solution are expanding with major facilities in Pinal County.

Infrastructure

• Well-established multimodal transportation in road, rail and air with direct routes to the ports of Los Angeles and Long Beach.

• Conveniently located along the Canamex corridor and I-10 and I-8, which provide direct access to California markets.

• Robust and redundant utility service from APS, Arizona Water Company, Southwest Gas and the City of Casa Grande.

• Broadband internet service available from Lumen, Cox and CGI-Communications, along with phone and TV service.

• Full slate of professional city services provided by public servants eager to cooperate, not regulate.

• Municipal general aviation airport with a paved runway, three taxiways, an apron, tie-down areas, hangars and ILS (instrument landing system), just north of a 57acre industrial airpark with through-the-fence access.

WATER RESOURCES

Most of Casa Grande’s water supply is groundwater drawn from large aquifers below the City. Recent studies by Arizona Water Company, which serves nearly all residents and businesses in the City, show more than enough groundwater to serve current needs over the next 100 years.

Before new residential and commercial developments can be built, they must obtain a certificate of assured water supply from the state that shows they will have enough water to meet needs for 100 years.

There are approximately 21,000 vacant lots with these certificates in Casa Grande, sufficient to meet projected development for the next 20 to 30 years.

Efforts to assure more water is available for additional growth include recharging the aquifers with treated effluent filtered through the ground and conservation, which is being encouraged through the Save IT CG campaign — learn more on its Facebook page. www.facebook.com/saveitcg.

Infrastructure — the system of services and resources serving as a foundation to support a community — is solid in Casa Grande.

IN CASA GRANDE YOUR WELL-BEING AWAITS

YOUR PLACE IN THE SUN

Casa Grande is the kind of place where everyone can find room to spread their wings.

It’s a young, diverse city with small-town geniality that makes it an ideal home for young families and anyone else seeking an open, relaxed place to lead their lives and pursue their dreams.

The sunny winters have long been a magnet for retirees and anyone else seeking a respite from bitter cold winters, and many end up building yearround lives here.

There’s a wide range of shopping, entertainment, cultural and recreational options and a full slate of fun seasonal events, not to mention an affordable cost of living that lets people build a world of their own in their yards and homes.

There’s a large and growing number of innovative companies making products and sharing ideas for a more sustainable future working beside longtime employers committed to their work and the community that’s made it possible.

GRANDE EXPECTATIONS

Casa Grande has always been more than just a pit stop or drive-over territory between Phoenix and Tucson. The “big house” is actually a big tent that welcomes anyone who’s looking for a fresh start in a smaller community that’s far from isolated.

Whether you’re a visitor, seasonal resident or full-time local, you can expect few limits on where you take your life or how many ways you can enjoy it. You can learn and grow through work, school and play. There are so many ways to do all of that in town and through the rapidly expanding opportunities throughout Western Pinal County

It’s really a close-knit community. The cost of living and quality of life is good. We’re not in the hustle-bustle but we’re close enough.

CASA GRANDE MAYOR CRAIG MCFARLAND

History

Railroad, Mining, Agriculture Spurred ‘Great

House’ Growth

The ancient Sonoran Desert Peoples, or Hohokam, abandoned their settlement centered on a “great house” in what is now Coolidge for reasons still under archeological theory. The Spanish Conquistadors most likely were the first “outsiders” to visit the area, sometime during the mid-1500s. During this time, the Akimel O’Odham lived along the Gila River while the Tohono O’Odham and the Maricopa peoples settled nearby.

Padre Kino, a Jesuit missionary, was the first known white man to visit the area and is credited with discovering and naming the Casa Grande Ruins. In 1846 the Mormon Battalion crossed Arizona including present-day Casa Grande while establishing the first viable wagon road across the Southwest.

Arizona south of the Gila River, including most of Pinal County, was

acquired by the U.S. from Mexico in the 1853 Gadsden Purchase.

As the Southern Pacific Railroad was being built across Arizona, construction had to stop for a variety of reasons. On May 19, 1879, a point was reached about where the present town of Casa Grande is now located, which was temporarily named Terminus. In September 1880 railroad executives renamed the tiny town after the ruins 20 miles east.

The town boomed as a railhead to mines but was decimated by fire in 1886 and 1893. The beginning of Casa Grande’s indomitable community spirit stirred and merchants and business leaders rallied to rebuild.

A mining slump almost killed the town in the 1890s. Agriculture saved the community, starting with smallscale agriculture and farm trade.

Along with livestock and vegetables, crops such as alfalfa, wheat, barley, citrus and cotton became important export commodities.

The City of Casa Grande was incorporated in 1915.

Day-tripping in Arizona

Once you’ve had some excellent adventures in Casa Grande and Western Pinal County you can travel just beyond your new home base. You can find the perfect day’s fun for your family inside museums, shops and restaurants or outside on trails, lakes and Jeep tours within a few hours’ drive. Whether you crave cool pines or desert warmth, there is a day trip for you!

BENSON

Home of Kartchner Caverns State Park, Benson will feed your love of nature. After your cave tour and visit to the museum, you can take one of the many trails around the state park. Voted the “Best Arizona Attraction” by USA Today, it is recommended you make online tour reservations before your day trip. The cave is home to the tallest and most massive column in the state. Downtown Benson pays tribute to its railroad heritage with a traditional depot.

The kids will love the new train simulator at the visitor’s center! The town is also known for the Holy Trinity Monastery. No longer an active monastery, visitors are welcome to enjoy the solitude and take some time for reflection.

BISBEE

When the last copper mine closed, this town transformed itself into an Arizona tourism mecca. Whether ghost-hunting, mine history or arts and crafts are your thing, you can find them all – and more – in Bisbee. Check

out the Bisbee Seance Room for a fun-filled evening full of paranormal entertainment. Jump on the mine train for a trip into the famous Queen.

CAREFREE/CAVE CREEK

These towns just north of Phoenix and Scottsdale offer a more laidback vibe, one via high-end resorts and the other Old West quirks. Take a horseback trail ride in the stunning Sonoran Desert, go antiquing along Cave Creek Road and browse galleries and boutiques in Carefree.
