Portland, Oregon-based animation studio Laika has promoted 20-year film and television industry veteran Mary Sandell to its head of production.
Laika, the studio behind the Oscar-nominated 3D stop-motion feature film Coraline, is currently in production of its second 3D stop-motion animated feature film ParaNorman which is set for an August 17, 2012 release by Focus Features.
Laika also recently optioned the Philip Reeve-penned novel Goblins for the big screen as a 3D, stop-motion animated film for all ages.
Sandell, who served one of Coraline’s producers, joined Laika in 2005, after a two-year stint as producer of DreamWorks’ primetime animated NBC series, Father of the Pride.
