Trifolium fucatum

A very showy edible native clover, this annual species has cream, pink, and dark purple flowers, growing with a somewhat mounding habit, under 1' tall. Found in moist places, marshes, ditches, and also in serpentine below 3000 feet throughout California. Blooms April-June.

Bull clover makes a spectacular container plant with its gorgeous flowers and intricately marked foliage.

It is frequently mentioned in ethnographies as being a favored edible green, with the entire plant being eaten, including the flowers. As with all the native clovers, we were not able to grow this plant until we started using "Sluggo" to control non-native slugs.
