Neoplasms of the Skin and Immunodermatology

  • Chapter
Essentials of Anatomic Pathology

Abstract

The skin is home to a wide variety of unique epithelial, mesenchymal, and hematopoietic neoplasms as well as a frequent site of involvement with systemic neoplasia. This chapter focuses on those entities that arise primarily in the skin, with distinction made between the often different biologic behavior of cutaneous neoplasms and their systemic counterparts, where applicable. The chapter concludes with a detailed examination of immunodermatology in the modern era with a focus on immunobullous and connective tissue diseases.
