    In 1963, William Russell debuted as Ian Chesterton, a science teacher in An Unhealthy Child, the first Doctor Who adventure aired on BBC. He reprised this role in the Power Of The Doctor after 57 years.
    Russell's Journey As Ian ChestertonIn the first Doctor Who adventure, Russell played his role alongside William Hartnell (First Doctor Who), Carole Ann Ford (Doctor's Granddaughter), and Jacqueline Hill (Fellow Teacher) as his co-actors on the show.

    At the end of the show's Season 2 in 1965, Russell left along with Hill.

    Russell continued to narrate audiobooks of lost episodes of the 1960s.

    In the recent season, Russell appears alongside Bonnie Langford (Mel Bush), Katy Manning (Jo Jones), Sophie Aldred (Ace) and Janet Fielding (Tegan Jovanka), where these characters form a support group.

    The popular sci-fi series is set to mark its 60th anniversary in 2023.


    In 3 special episodes that will air in November 2023, Tennant will be seen as the Fourteenth Doctor. Catherine Tate will play the role of his companion Donna Noble.

    Ncuti Gatwa, the Sex Education star, will debut as the Fifteenth Doctor on the show in 2023's "festive period." Coronation Street fame Millie Gibson will be seen as Ruby Sunday, his new companion.
