      Just say no.
They're pricing would make you believe it's a life time athletic center or an LA fitness.

I'll say they have well maintained equipment.
But when the place invests in an app, an eager sales team and a TV show for themselves but can't replace their 10 cent shower curtains theirs really only one thing to assume. They are not interested in you, their paying member. They're interested in the next poor soul that they can squeeze money out of. Really just plan and simple.

Don't believe me? Check them out yourself. Or just check out these photos, they were taken in the womens bathroom. Who knows what's hiding in the men's bathroom....

This place needs a renovation. Their bathrooms can use some cleaning. It's a good size but it's usually pretty smelly in there

Half the time the escalators are not working. I don't use the escalators but it sucks for people who need it.

Been working out here for ~10 years. Always liked this location. Particularly the weight room. It's big, with plenty of benches for pressing and dumbbell work. Not to mention, the 3 different squat racks! Plenty of cardio machines too if that's your thing.

I hope they get they reach an agreement with their landlord so that they can reopen once the lockdown ends.

      Updated review

Hopefully a MANAGER IS READING THIS. How about fix your cardio machines? Most either don't have heart rate comintors and/or dont adjust height on treadmills. The same treadmills have been broken for about a year. You mention it to staff and they say it will get repaired. Not the case. Also, how about check the hand sanitizers that are constantly out of cleaner. Get your crap together 24 hour. I thought this was a big gym with a budget and not some independent broke gym. Several months later and still five broken treadmills.

This gym has a lot of older equipment, but with that comes a lot of variety! Also, the equipment are well maintained and for the most part in working order, so you always have plenty of things to do when you get to the gym. My main complaint is that it was very stuffy and warm in the weights room--seems the air circulation isn't the best there as the cardio section was noticeably cooler. Apart from that, this is a solid gym to go to.

Tentatively giving this place 4 stars maybe even 5 when I compare it to the north and south oc 24hrs I've been to. This place is brilliant, absolutely. The free weight section is lovely. I've been to a dozen 24hr locations and whomever is managing the cleaning crew and designed the gym layout as well as chose the equipment deserves a high 5. Yes it doesn't have a torque setup like a lot of other gyms but it really doesn't need one based on all the racks they have. Example this gym has 4 incline benches. Others average 2-3. This gyms got a boatload or hoist brand equipment, 24hr purchasing has gone heavily with hoist equipment for new purchases and this location went for it in spades.

Im not 100 % in love with hoist but it's not bad either. At this point 24hr has overall statewide been falling behind independent, bodybuilding, powerlifting and upstart chain gyms like planet fitness chuze and golds. Although they're philosophy has been to invest in ultra sport building and super sports. Which ignores the majority of their clients theyre doing pretty damn good at this location. It's lovely. Great job and keep it up. PS don't throw away the donkey calf raise icarian machine.

The key thing I noticed that reviewers of this gym are really looking for is a remodel of a facility albeit worn, has done a lot to address actual user experience, they would RUN from some of the OC locations I go to regularly. Out of the 24hrs I've gone to in California this place comes in #2 to Irvine Spectrum (formerly a super sport now designated Sport) showers. (( For gyms not in the Super Sport or Ultra Sport categories )).

I upgraded the rating to a 5 personally, even though my setting is at 5 stars. based on equipment available the areas for resistance training, machine/ free weight / etc selection. The personal trainers must love training people here. I would! wish this was my local gym - or else I wouldn't be reviewing getting another gym membership since OC 24 gyms are in much worse shape.

PS has a glute master machine too! Too many 24hrs miss out glute centric or plate loader machines. For lower body and shoulders and or older shoulder lower body equipment that are difficult to find, they have a Brand New Hoist brand Glute master. #winning

CAVEAT : My review would be more readily consumed by someone interested in strength training, resistance work, crossfit, powerlifting, bodybuilding, fitness or bikini training, functional training etc. I also appreciate many of the older equipment with "rust" many of those are GEMS and treasures that aren't necessarily easy to find. Many gyms would simply just throw them away and NEVER replace them with newer comparables, but often-times its difficult to find comparable equipment with some older stuff. So your mileage may vary if you go based on my review. I'm writing purely from the standpoint of someone that has worked out at 24hr gyms in Northern California, OC, and now SD. over 12+ 24hr gyms. I'm a gymrat gymnerd and I give credit where its due, see my oc gym evals.

PS they have a landmine too :)

      I love this gym.

Large gym! Friendly people work at the front desk and always greet me when I come in. The poor review is for the cleanliness. I have made requests and left comments to the employees several times. Such as:
      1.) empty paper towel
2.) no spray to clean equipment
3.) cleaning person dusting (only dusting) never once seen wipe down equipment.
4.) when asked for more paper towel or cleaning product, cleaning staff say all she is supposed to do is dust.
5.) people leave equipment w sweat dripping from benches because there is no supplies.
6.) keep the temperature too warm. More than 73 degrees!
7.) the fans can't be turned on by guests because they are too far for anyone to reach.

PLEASE HAVE CLEAN STAFF CLEAN BENCHES AND EQUIPMENT DURING THE DAY AND DUST AT NIGHT!
Not only do people have allergies but running while they dust in front of you is not helping. At least dust at night when there is fewer customers. And wipe down benches during day when it is needed more!!

Rating of group x floor and equipment only:

I've been a member of 24 Hour Fitness just over 15 years. I've had a few "home gyms" over this time period- Grossmont, Rancho, Santee and Pt Loma. This review is about Pt Loma

1- Instructors- great , just take the time to try 'me all, there are enough for anyone to find one they enjoy.

2- Cleanliness. Ugg, ok at best. Sweat and spots on equipment. Floors of Group X Room often absolutely disgusting. Hair balls all over, but fortunately they head for the corners and stay there. Only once was I laying on my back in Yoga and one of these clumps blew across my face, with some in my mouth- I said disgusting, right?

3- maintenance - adequate. I've told the staff over and over of all the equipment that either does not function as it should or how the TV pick ups only work on certain machines (5-10%). I've been coming almost a year, and nothing has been done about my suggestions to fix them. I was told that perhaps the equipment is old, so all the features don't work. But, with all the ellipticals lined up and looking exactly the same, I would guess they to be all the same model and age, shouldn't they function the same?

4- respect of Group X floor. Wow, I was so shocked to see members drop their fully loaded bar balls on the wood after completing an exercise. Sorry, but this is NOT COOL. This is a wood floor- this would NEVER be tolerated by the staff at the other gyms. This is a either a bad on the instructors or manager not to tell these instructors to remind students to, "gently set down your barbell". It's done at the other gyms, and has never come across as bossy- just like "keep your back straight". So, therefore this fairly new floor has a lot of rough spots where the weights broke the wood. I've even witnessed an instructor of Body Pump drop her weights in a demo of a move. Yikes.

5- Staff- friendly and welcoming front desk. Guys at the back computers often involved in loud personal conversations with each other, that's cool, but when they are having to do it at Party volume, not too fun when I just want to watch TV or listen to music.

Overall, this club and College seem to have the greatest opportunities (great number of peps, and spacious facility), but unfortunately Pt Lomas overall ranking is only just above the pitiful La Mesa gym. Good news is that all these complaints are so very easy and cheap to fix. Come on, why not shoot for greatness? You can do it if you're motivated?

THERE'S NO SAUNA!!!!! That's HUGE to me. Especially since most people choose 24 Hour Fitness because of the sauna lol. It was a pretty decent gym, variety of equipment and rooms. Lots of rooms actually. 2 stories. I thought it was pretty funny that there's an escalator to get up to the entrance lol! But there is an option of stairs. It's not too packed which I LOVE. The people here seem super friendly and I felt like everyone knew each other. Decent hidden gym. I had no idea this location existed!

My husband and I both have memberships here, which, for the record we rarely use.
They recently remodeled this location which makes it way more functional.
A major complaint that I have is that the staff always seems to give you a hard time when you want to put a hold on your membership, I get that you don't want to lose money but being over assertive doesn't make anyone want to come back.
Overall, the staff that greats you when you come in is great.
I would always always suggest that if you're very specific about which machines you want to use, come at non peak times

Waiting for a class. Retail area and cycles
