There are several Castaneda's in the area, and my review would apply to the Palm Springs, Desert Hot Springs and Cathedral City locations as the service and food quality is consistent.
I like that Castanedas is open 24 hours. I usually get the Enchilada Plate (cheese enchiladas, rice, beans, a bit of shredded lettuce and tomato. While I am not a fan of the 'salad' (it tends to get soggy quickly from the beans and enchilada sauce) i love, love, love, the cheese enchiladas. I wish tortilla chips were provided free with the meal. I usually use the drive thru but when i have eaten inside, the dining room has been clean, the restrooms clean, and my meal has been prepared quickly and correctly. The menu is extensive: but can be a bit hard to read when dining inside as the descriptions are in a small font. The staff is always respectful and professional.
I recommend Castañedas as an inexpensive alternative to the many tablecloth and white napkin 'sit down' cafes in the area.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Estella B.Grand Terrace, CA31927Feb 4, 2024
Beans were a bit bland and soupy and there was way too much onion in the enchiladas. Definitely not worth the price we paid and I paid with cash.

$18 for a shit burrito and soda. Just go support a small businesses, that price is BS. No burrito should cost this much

Carne asada fries truly are the best! Love this place!!! Even better is that they have a drive through!

I've been here a total of about 5X, with the last 2 being impressive. The first 3X atleast a year ago or more I would've gave them an average score of 3. Today, Idk if they got new ownership or management but the food stands out from other "Alberto's" variations. I've ordered Carne asada Nachos & Burritos from here & they were fresh and tasty... and clean. These types of fast food Mexican restaurants tend to make their food extra heavy loaded with dirty oils. That wasn't my experience here, I'm full, satisfied and no bloating. The prices are a little bit steeper than most, but if it means you're getting fresh clean food it's worth the price. Food is going in the right direction, they just need to clean up the paint, and give the restaurant a cleaner look.

Normally is pretty good! Today tostada grande was nothing like described on the menu.. lesson learned on this item.. Only one huge chunk of beef, way too hard to cut with the plastic they provide.. it's filled with every onion and pepper under the sun, zero shredded beef..
the carne Asada burritos and carne asada fries are heaven tho!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Lyle J.Riverside, CA23Jan 31, 2024
The food is terrible.
The service is abysmal.
The ambience is non-existent - but clean enough to get an A rating.
Look, I'm a local - and I love Mexican food. This place is a pox upon the name. Please, do yourself a favor, and drive just a mile or two to literally anywhere else - and you will save both your tastebuds and your pocketbook. While the food (probably) won't make you sick, in retrospect, the value judgement might. Move along.
I should have taken photos before returning the food - but I promise you, utterly uninteresting - except in their lack of character and excess of whatever oil they cook their beef in.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - 8236600Jul 4, 2023
