Plant Biography
Archontophoenix palms are normally found growing along streams and creeks, and in damp gullies so this tells us something about their requirements. Happiest with constant access to water, they can be grown in many positions, from deep shade to dappled sun.
Myola Alexander Palm mature plants have a tropical-looking ringed trunk and if you are lucky enough to get your plant to flower, you may be rewarded with decorative red fruits.
Care & Size Guidance
Archontophoenix myolensis palms grow naturally in volcanic soils so use a rich potting mix with good drainage.
They can tolerate standing in water during the warmer months, but do not allow this to happen over the winter when watering should be reduced.
Feed regularly with a palm fertiliser during the growing season to speed up growth and keep it looking its best.
