The Oscar winner, 85, was joined on Thursday by wife Stella Arroyave at the opening event of an art exhibit from Salma Hayek's brother Sami Hayek, titled "Frequency," held at Christie's Los Angeles in Beverly Hills.

Hopkins smiled as he and Arroyave, 67, posed for photos during the event both solo and with the artist, as well as with Salma, 57, her husband François-Henri Pinault and Demi Moore.

At the event, Sami told PEOPLE about finding support from friends in Los Angeles.

"I have had a very blessed life because I know people from all walks of life, and what I value in any people, regardless of their background or regardless of what they do or if they're successful in their field or not, I pretty much value authenticity," he said.

"I really value people who have the courage to be an individual, and this city is blessed with all of that," added Sami.

Salma's friendship with Hopkins goes way back. In 2003 — the same year he married Arroyave — the actress showed her support for Hopkins by being by his side when he was honored with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

To celebrate his Oscar win for The Father back in April 2021, Salma posted a video on Instagram of herself and Hopkins sharing a dance during a sweet moment captured at the actor's home in Wales.

Set to Leonard Cohen's "Dance Me to the End of Love," the video began with Hopkins moving around before Salma appeared and danced next to him. The pair then hugged as the clip came to a close.

"Celebrating with the king @anthonyhopkins 👑 his 2nd Oscar for his extraordinary performance in The Father," Salma wrote with the post.

Sharing a photo of the pair seemingly taken during the same meetup, Hopkins wrote in September 2022, "Happy birthday, Salma. Your beauty and grace is incomparable. We love you."

Following his roles in Armageddon Time and The Son last year, Hopkins next stars as famed 20th-century neurologist Sigmund Freud in Freud's Last Session, in select theaters Dec. 22.

The actor also appears in the film One Life as Britain's Sir Nicholas Winton, a man credited with organizing a rescue operation that brought roughly 669 children from then-Nazi occupied Czechoslovakia to England in the months leading up to World War II in 1939. The movie premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival.

Last December, Hopkins celebrated 47 years of sobriety in an inspiring video on Instagram. Saying he is a “recovering alcoholic," the actor encouraged his followers battling an addiction to seek help by talking to someone or joining a 12-step program.

"I didn't realize that it was a kind of condition — mental, physical, emotional condition called alcoholism, or addiction,” Hopkins said in the video. “And I'm not an expert on drugs — I'm not an expert on anything. I know nothing. Except I have found a life where no one bullies me."

"I want to say to all you young people who are being bullied, take heed — you be proud of yourself," he continued. "Don't listen to them. Don't let yourself be put down. Depression is part of being alive, sometimes [as is] anxiety. Life is tough."
