Brooklyn Beckham is embracing his love of cooking — something he says he owes to his father.

In a new interview with British news outlet The Times, Brooklyn opened up about learning to cook from his dad, retired soccer star David Beckham, while poking a little fun at the chef skills of some of his loved ones.

"My dad was always the one cooking in the house, my mum not so much," he explained of David, 48, and mom, designer Victoria Beckham, 49. "I just loved hanging out with him in the kitchen, I loved the smell of food."

Brooklyn has been sharing cooking content on social media for several years, and also helmed a 2021-2022 Facebook Watch series called Cookin' with Brooklyn. In it, Brooklyn teamed up with professional chefs or celebrities to craft unique culinary dishes.

The 24-year-old said that now the next generation of Beckhams (he and his siblings — brothers Romeo, 21, and Cruz, 18, and sister Harper, 12) gather together to cook. "We never say it’s like a competition, even though we give each other a bit of stick about it — that's just what brothers do. All of us in the kitchen. Just listening to music, cooking together, it’s fun," said Brooklyn. "The best."

One person who doesn't share Brooklyn's love for food prep is his wife, Nicola Peltz Beckham. When asked by The Times if the actress, 29, can cook, he teased, "Not to save her life!"

Brooklyn told the outlet that he's never taken a cooking class, but has spent time watching online MasterClass offerings with chefs. He also noted the connections he made through Cookin' with Brooklyn: "I've been lucky enough to do videos and hang out with all these different types of chefs, learning different things, like [the renowned U.S. baker] Nancy Silverton, who is one of my favorite chefs. She's a really cool person."

Some of Brooklyn's cooking content has earned him criticism, but he takes the internet hate in stride.

"I always wish them well, the haters," he said in the interview. "I'm just doing what I love doing, staying healthy, being happy, and that's what it is. There are always going to be people out there who try and pull you down."

Victoria and David just shared a peek at their own cooking and eating habits, with the former Spice Girl revealing on Instagram Saturday that the couple make green juice daily. The concoction includes spinach, apple, pear, broccoli, cucumber, celery, lemon, ginger and lime.
