[The specimen (Boivins.n.) from Senegal cited as L. schimperi by Hoyle and Jones is leafless and could be either this species or L. acida, but, as the latter species is common in Senegal and as L. schimperi is not otherwise recorded west of Nigeria, I suspect that the specimen is L. acida. The flowering shoots of Barter 1109 may also be L. acida and perhaps came from the specimen Barter 1107.]
