Blechnum gibbum 'Silver Lady is not particular about soil type or pH but does best in bright shady sites with moist but well draining soil. Plant in a location protected from sun, cold, and wind. Direct sun exposure will burn the leaves. Temperature, light intensity, soil moisture, and humidity, all contribute to the stress or success of your fern.

Native to tropical climates, Silver Lady Fern prefers humid weather and consistent moisture and is beautiful as an indoor plant in bright indirect light. Be sure to maintain humidity and moisture and avoid watering with hard water if possible if growing indoors.

After planting your Silver Lady Fern, water deeply and regularly for several weeks to reduce plant stress and facilitate root development. Sensitive to irregular irrigation, it is important to keep the soil consistently moist but not waterlogged. Frost may discolor, damage, or kill the fern depending on the duration of the low temperatures. Semi-tender ferns grow well in coastal southern California.
