Symptoms
Olive-coloured necrotic spots appear on both sides of loquat (Eriobotrya japonica) leaves and fruit, initially appearing star-shaped, but later becoming more circular as they increase in size. These spots have a velvety texture due to the production of fungal conidia (Sánchez- Torres, 2007a,b).
Different strains of F. pyracanthae induce different severity of symptoms, with more severe infections also causing chlorosis on stems (Sánchez-Torres, 2007a).
