Prevention

Establish crop in April-early May during yala season
Maintain proper plant spacing (30 – 40 x 10 cm)
Avoid overhead irrigation
Apply recommended nitrogen fertilizers
Remove weeds and alternate hosts, e.g. Euphorbia herta

Monitoring

Make regular field inspection for early diagnosis of the disease
Observe White powdery substances on the leaves
Observe Leaf drying at severe infection

Restrictions

At warm and humid conditions, commence chemical control once initial symptoms are observed

Direct Control

Sulphur 80% WG. Rate of dilution – 50 g / 10 lit. of water. Rate of application – 2500 – 3000 g / ha

WHO Classification III. Toxic to parasitoids

Carbendazim 50% WP. Rate of dilution – 7 g / 10 lit. of water. Rate of application – 225 – 275 g/ha

WHO Class – U. Toxic to predatory mites, earth worms and fish and moderately toxic to parasitoids

Chlorothalonil 500 g /l SC. Rate of dilution – 30 ml/ 10 lit. of water. Rate of application – 950 – 1800 ml /ha

WHO Class U. Toxic to predatory mites, earth worms and fish
