Global description
Vigna luteola is a creeping and not very climbing liana, glabrous to densely pubescent, with alternate leaves, composed of three leaflets of variable shape and size. The petiole is elongated. Its base is framed by 2 oval lanceolate stipules. The leaflets are broadly oval to linear lanceolate, with a rounded or wedge-shaped base and an acute or acuminate apex. They are almost glabrous or covered with sparse pubescence. The yellow flowers are grouped in clusters of a few flowers, axillary and borne on a long stalk. The fruit is a pod 4-8 cm long and 4-7 mm in diameter, straight to slightly curved, almost cylindrical. It is marked by slight constrictions between the seeds. It contains 6 to 9 seeds. The seed is oblong to oval-rhombic, black or dark reddish-brown or greyish-brown with black spots.
