Seedling
Cotyledons large, 15-30 x 1-2 mm, linear, with visible midrib, gradually attenuating into petioles, glabrous. Primordial leaves divided into 3 segments, in turn divided into pointed linear sub-segments, petiole bases sheathed, blade and petiole ciliolate. The hypocotyled axis is long, 15-20 mm, often purplish. Light green seedling.
Adult plant
Torilis nodosa is an annual plant with an upright or decumbent habit. Stem branched from the base, finely furrowed, with stiff shrunken hairs, 70 cm high. Leaves alternate, 2-3-pinnate, thin-segmented, covered with stiff hairs. Umbel made up of compact heads on a very short peduncle, with 3 very short rays, no involucre, but with involucelles formed by lanceolate, hairy bracts, longer than the pedicels. Flowers small, white or light pink. Fruit small, 2-4.5 mm long, ellipsoid to ovoid, the central ones covered with tubercles, the peripheral ones covered on the outside with hard glochidial prickles.

Algeria: Torilis nodosa is a xerophilous species that is fairly common in annual crops (winter wheat-cultivated fallow) and perennial crops (vines and orchards), as well as in ruderal habitats in the north of the country. Adaptable to all types of soil.
Morocco: Torilis nodosa is a very common ruderal and weed species in lawns, crops, wasteland and rocky pastures. Up to 2200 m of elevation.

Local harmfulness
Algeria: Torilis nodosa is a secondary weed. It is ubiquitous but does not pose any particular problem in the current phytotechnical context. Due to its wide distribution, it is a species to be monitored in the event of changes in the context, such as a change in the cropping system, which could lead to a disruption in inter-specific competitive relationships.

Local control
Algeria: Torilis nodosa is controlled in cereal crops with a combination of false-sowing cultivation and chemical treatment with bentazone, metribuzin, oxyfluorfen, pendimethalin, propyzamide, tribuzin, trifluralin, etc. However, this species is tolerant to linuron.
