Description

Rhododendron piercei A great shrub with attractive foliage and a habit that is wider than high. The leaves are coated with a thick rusty-brown indumentum beneath with a shiny and slightly bullate upper surface. The bright red bell-shaped flowers appear in early spring, one of the earliest species to flower each year. Requires good drainage. One of the first species that I fell in love with way back when.
