VEGETATIVE AND REPRODUCTIVE PLANT ORGANS A. Galbová, R. Kaplanová, I. Lososová
2
Vegetative organs serve the plant to grow Reproductive organs help the plant to reproduce
3
Vegetative organs root stem leaf Reproductive organs flower seeds
4
Root Function to hold the flower in the ground to take nutrients and water from the ground 3 parts of roots 1) Growth zone – meristem cells and caproot cells 2) Streching zone – cells enlarge their size 3) Differencial zone – cells get water and nutriens from the soil 2 systems 1) allorhizie - taproot 2) homorhizie - fibrous root
5
Stem Function to hold the leaves, sprouts and reproductive organs 2 groups 1) herbaceous stems - 3 groups 2) ligneous stems - 3 groups 3 types of branching 1) monopodium - side stems do not over grow the main stem 2) sympodium - opposite of monopodium 3) pleiochasium - stems are dividing equally, none of them is dominant
6
Leaf Function conteins chlorophyll - eligible for photosynthesis water vaporization and exchange of gases between the plant and the environment 3 types 1) cotyledons - on the bottom of the plant 2) asimilation leaves - above previous 3) bracts - on the very top of the plant simple or complicated based on the complexity of the blade
7
Flower Function Reproductive organ originates from part of the stem and leaves 2 types 1) the male one - consisting from anther and filamen 2) the female one - consisting from stigma, style and ovary Floral formula formula where each part has its own graphical mark
8
Fruit, seeds Function the fruit arises from the ovary and it is a multicellular reproductive organ and it contains seeds The function of fetal is nutrition and protecting seed and easier dissemination of seeds Pericarp has 3 layers 1) exocarp - outer side, membraneous and coloured 2) mesocarp - middle layer, juicy and is created by pulpous parenchyma 3) endocarp - inner layer, consists of membranous or sclerenchematic layer
9
Conclusion Our project describes functions and metamorphosis of a root, a stem and a leaf. In the second part of this project the structure and functions of a flower and seeds are described.
