Origin: South Africa

Type: Succulent shrub or vine

Size: Vines up to 10 ft. or train as shrub.

Flowers: 20–30 orange flowers with green or yellow tips on short stems, spring, summer, fall, winter. Green leaves 8–10” long.

Uses: Planters, walls, ground cover; containers with training, near oak trees. Fire resistive.

Wildlife: Attracts hummingbirds. Deer resistant.

Soil: Well-drained and/or rocky.

Water: Seldom and deep.

Sun: Full or light shade.

Pruning: To shape or maintain as shrub.

Pests & Diseases: Root rot in heavy or poorly-drained soils or from too much water.

Notes: Most Aloes come from the bluffs and rocky soils of the Cape and Natal regions of south and east Africa. A fast grower. Hardy to 25° F, but not extensive frost.
