Description

'Butterfly' diervilla has a neat, well-branched habit, never floppy like other cultivars. Yellow summer flowers are held alongside nice, clean, bright green foliage. Developed by Pieter Zwijnenburg of the Netherlands, breeder of 'Limelight' hydrangea.

Soil

Adaptable to any soil, except excessively soggy sites.

Pruning

Blooms on new wood so spring pruning is best. Needs little regular pruning; however, benefits from rejuvenation every 3-5 years.

Uses

Ideal for mass plantings of all types: hedges, foundation, wildlife gardens. Very well suited to filler material in cut flower production

Growing Tips

Diervilla is one of the most shade tolerant shrubs, however, blooming and foliage color are best with some sun.
