形態特徵

• Shrubs or small trees, 3-7 m tall. Young branchlets 1.5-2 mm in diam.
• Leaves alternate or pseudowhorled; petioles 8-17 mm long; lamina lanceolate-elliptic to narrowly obovate-elliptic, 6-11 cm long, 2-5 cm broad, coriaceous or thin-coriaceous, base attenuate, margin narrowly recurved, apex gradually acuminate, costa slightly raised on upper surface, 2-2.5 mm in diam., elevated on lower surface, secondary nerves 5-8 per side, slightly raised or obscure on both surfaces.
• Flower buds ovoid; flowers axillary, solitary; pedicel 10-20 mm long. Perianth segments 12-20, whitish, oblong or narrowly oblong, flat, thin-carnose. Stamens 17-20, 2-seriate, connective truncate or obtuse. Carpels 12-13, 4-5 mm long; stigma 2-2.7 mm long.
• Fruit 3-3.5 cm in diam.; pedicel 15-35 mm long, 1.5-2 mm in diam.; follicles 11-13, apex rostrate, rostrum 2-4 mm long.Seeds brownish or yellow, 7-8 mm long.

分布

• 台灣 : wet, evergreen, broad-leaved forests in mountains at 2,000-2,200 m.
• 世界 : Southern Ryukyus.
