Peter Ramsey (born December 23, 1962) is an American illustrator, director, and writer.
Initially starting out as a second-unit director and storyboard artist/production illustrationer for live-action film, he transitioned to animation after a suggestion from a friend and joined DreamWorks Animation. It was at Dreamworks Animation where he worked as a story artist from Shrek the Third and Shrek the Halls and then became the first African-American person to direct a big-budget animated feature film, Rise of the Guardians.
Ramsey would later end up at Sony Pictures Animation in 2017, where he co-directed the Academy Award-winning film Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse. He is the first African-American person to be nominated and win the Academy Award for Best Animated Feature.
