General Information:

Selection from the USA – Florida, native from South China to Thailand. Belongs to the Sapindaceae family.

Considered one of the best-tasting longan varieties. Highly productive ground plant, recommended for commercial fruit cultivation.

Thin-shelled medium to large fruits is very sweet, juicy, and have small seeds.

Sapindaceae includes longan (Dimocarpus longan), rambutan (Nephelium lappaceum), and mangosteen (Garcinia mangostana).

Regarded as a tropical to subtropical fruit. An evergreen tree that grows up to 10–20 m in height (Zhang, 1997).

Medicinal Use:

Dimocarpus Longan (Dragon Eye or Euphoria) has limited medicinal use.

Extracts appear neuroprotective and may boost cognition.
