Dominic West reveals why he’s ‘never been on a job’ like The Crown

The second part of the final season of The Crown has now landed, bringing the Netflix drama to a conclusion.

The popular series stretched over six seasons, and one of its stars has spoken about how the news “hugely affects” the actors involved.

Dominic West, who plays Prince Charles in the royal drama, has said that real-life contemporary events had an impact on the way the actors interacted with their own characters. "During the show, Queen Elizabeth died, and Prince Harry's whole drama blew up, and it hugely affects what you're thinking," he told RadioTimes.com.

He added: "You've scrutinised and studied these people for months, and I've never been on a job where the news affects how you feel about your character every day, almost. And it still does."

Saying that there is “so much material” when playing Charles, the Pride and Brassic star said: “When he became king and there was the pen incident and all these little unguarded moments, they’re absolutely what you live for as an actor, especially an actor playing someone who's not often unguarded."

Dominic admitted that he “became totally addicted to new stories about him,” and tried to work out “What's his voice like in private? And what are his tics like in private? Do they disappear?”

The narrative of season six covers the key events from Queen Elizabeth II’s reign and the lives of the royals from the mid-1990s through to the 2000s. Imelda Staunton once again plays Queen Elizabeth II. The monarch was portrayed by Claire Foy in the first two seasons, and Olivia Colman in seasons three and four.

The season is split into two parts, with the first few episodes having landed on 16th November and part two landing four weeks later, on 14th December.
