About this work

Description

Erect sharp spiny stems with thin conceolate leaves and pink, white and red "pea" flowers. Flowers have been used to decorate salads. Applied externally, the plant delays wound healing. The plant name derives from the Greek onos, meaning a donkey, as this plant is one of its favourite foods.
