Portrait of a Native American Elder in oil on Artist's Board Stately portrait of an elderly man by Hoyt Yeatman II (Jr) (American, 1926-2019). Shown against a dark background, the man is wearing a blue tunic, red headband, and several bead necklaces. His face is rendered with care, showing wrinkles and creases in realistic detail. Signed "Hoyt Yeatman" in the lower right corner. Presented in a vintage wood frame with a velvet liner. Frame size: 26.5"H x 22"W Board size: 18"H x 14"W Hoyt Yeatman II (Jr.) (American, 1926-2019) was born in San Francisco, CA. His father (Sr.) was a commercial artist who mostly painted movie house posters. Yeatman II, Jr. joined the Merchant Marine and then served in the US Army during WWII. After the war, Yeatman worked as a dental technician, but his passion was always art - he painted in acrylics and oils, drew with pastels, and sculped with kiln-fired clay. After moving to Florida, he joined several art leagues - West Volusia Artist Inc., the DeBary Art League, and the Deltona Art Club, serving for a time as President or Vice President in each. His son, Hoyt Yeatman III (sometimes referred to as Jr.), founded Dream Quest and is an Oscar-winning special effects artist.
