Seeds were imported from Brazil. Anacardium Giganteum is a large evergreen tree with a large, spreading crown; it can grow 20 - 40 meters tall. The straight, cylindrical bole can be 50 - 90cm in diameter. The edible fruits and seeds are gathered from the wild for local use, and the plant is also sometimes cultivated as a food crop and sold in local markets. The fruit is very juicy and ranges in flavor from sweet to acidic. A very pleasant, sub-acid flavor, reminiscent of strawberries. A bittersweet flavor, much esteemed locally. It is eaten fresh or made into a juice. The fruit is about 2cm long. Will be shipped in humid vermiculite.
