Wesley Snipes Gives His Stamp Of Approval To Mahershala Ali As The New Blade

He responded to a Twitter user with his thoughts.

Wesley Snipes is making it known that Mahershala Ali is perfect for the role as the new Blade superhero in the upcoming film.

The veteran actor came to Ali’s defense on Twitter Thursday morning (Nov. 11) after he responded to a user who questioned if the two-time Oscar winner would be able to outdo Snipes as the original Blade. Snipes portrayed the Marvel Cinematic Universe superhero vampire in three films, one in 1998 and in two sequels in 2002 and 2004.

“He will do great,” Snipes wrote on Twitter with a prayer hands emoji.

It was first announced that the Moonlight actor was cast in the reboot of Blade in 2019 during Comic-Con in July. According to IMDB, the revival is in pre-production.

Snipes confirmed whether or not he was involved in the Blade reboot in an interview with Uproxx earlier this year.

Sharing that he didn’t “have any involvement [in the project], but I support the young artists and I support Marvel in their business decisions.”

Adding that Ali has “got a heck of a job on his hands,” starring as Blade.

Before the Green Book actor gets into character for the Marvel horror-action adventure, he will star in his upcoming film Swan Song, playing Cameron Turner, a husband and soon-to-be-father that is given the chance at surviving a terminal illness.

Swan Song releases in theaters and premieres globally on Apple TV+ on Dec. 17, 2021.
