Last year, the industrial town of Stourbridge was unexpectedly named as one of the happiest places to live in the West Midlands alongside more rural and leafy destinations. A huge survey of more than 21,000 people by property website Rightmove ranked Stourbridge in the region's top 10 happiest areas - much higher compared to other areas in the Black Country such as Dudley and Wolverhampton.

It's perhaps not a surprise considering how proud some residents in Stourbridge are of their town, with many praising its community feel, access to nearby countryside and fascinating history. You'll find nods to its industrial past throughout the town, including at the Red House Glass Cone - a monument which showcases how the Black Country gained a reputation across the world for its glassmaking.
