Dragons' Den star Peter Jones spoke of how he was rushed to hospital after he 'collapsed on the floor dead' on the latest episode of the BBC show. He opened up about a terrifying hospital trip to an entrepreneur.

His revelation came after Paul Westerman from Cambridgeshire entered the Den to seek investment for his RBR legflow device. The clinically-trialed product aims to help prevent deep vein thrombosis.

Peter then revealed he had personal experience of how serious the issue could be. He said he had suffered a ‘massive bilateral pulmonary embolism’ nine days before he was due to be married in 2011. He explained it had followed a knee injury when he had suffered deep vein thrombosis in his right leg.

‘I know that this is an issue," he said. "I was coming back on a flight from Los Angeles, and I basically ended up in hospital in Windsor with a tube in my groin and it was without doubt because I wasn’t moving for a long period of time.

‘"Ever since, I’ve done exactly the same as you. I literally move all the time, and even when I’m sitting in this chair." He added that "‘adly many people have lost their lives over this problem".

Despite Peter expressing how impressed he was by the product, he didn't choose to invest. Touker Suleyman however gave the entrepreneur the money he was looking for.

It is not the first health scare that Peter has opened up about. In 2010, Peter opened up to the Daily Mail about thinking he was ‘going to die’ from penumonia.

"Three years ago I had pneumonia. I had been working too hard and got a bit run-down," he said at the time.

"I got very, very wheezy and had trouble breathing – so much so that I thought I was going to die. I was put on a course of antibiotics."
