Who Is Matt Bomer's Husband?

You probably know the devilishly good-looking Matt Bomer from the popular Netflix show The Sinner and his long-running hit show White Collar. Or, perhaps you know him from his role in the Magic Mike franchise. Point being you’ve probably seen, er, a lot of him.

But did you know he’s been married since 2011? Yep, that’s right, he’s been off the market for over 10 years. So who’s the lucky man? He’s married to Hollywood publicity mogul Simon Halls, and we’ve rounded up everything you need to know about Halls.

He’s a Publicist

And a successful one at that. He started his career in the publicity department of Warner Bros and went on to do publicity for the first McDonald’s in Russia for two years before moving back to L.A. He then became an account manager at BWR Public Relations and managed actors, including Jude Law, Sarah Jessica Parker, and The Coen Brothers. He even served as Bomer’s publicist before they became romantically involved.

He’s a USC Alum

Halls graduated from the University of Southern California in 1986 and earned a master’s degree in English Language and Literature/Letters. He now serves on the board of advisors for the USC Annenberg Center for Public Relations.

He Co-Founded Two Public Relations Firms

His next career move led to co-founding not one, but two incredibly successful publicity firms in Hollywood. The first agency, Huvane Baum Halls merged with PMK in 2001. Halls and his partners went on to develop Slate PR, one of the entertainment industry’s leading PR agencies, where he is currently a partner and reps celebrities like Ryan Murphy, John Wells, Neil Patrick Harris, Annette Bening, Frances McDormand and more.

He Worked for Hillary Clinton

According to USC’s website, Halls served on the Entertainment Council during Hillary Clinton’s 2016 Presidential election. It’s safe to say that Halls has had a very successful career full of diverse experiences.

He's a Philanthropist

Halls devotes much of his time to various charities along with his husband's support. The two are passionate about a variety of causes dedicated to family assistance and helping at-risk children in their Los Angeles community. The pair's contributions were recognized with an Ambassador of Children Award for their work with Uplift Family Services in 2017.

Halls also holds a seat on the board of Project ALS—a cause that holds personal significance to him after losing a close friend and mentor to the degenerative disease. He and Bomer frequently participate in the L.A. County Walk to Defeat ALS together.

He's Unfazed by Bomer's Sex Scenes

Anyone familiar with Bomer's work knows that there's quite a lot of screen time for the more, shall we say, intimate facets of his roles. From the notoriously suggestive dance moves in Magic Mike XXL to famous sex scenes, there's quite a large body of work there. Naturally one would wonder how Halls feels about so much of his husband on display. Well, Bomer told People his partner is pretty "anesthetized" to it at this point. "It’s part of the job. It’s part of the character’s reality and who they are and their circumstances. That’s what you show up and do. It’s just a day at the office sometimes when you’re an actor,” he explained.

They Have Three Kids

The duo shares three sons, Kit, Henry, and Walker, who were all born via surrogacy. Their oldest, Kit, was born in 2005, and twins Henry and Walker were born in 2008. Bomer often shares sweet family photos on his Instagram.

He Surprised Bomer With a Puppy

Few gifts can top a brand-new puppy, and Halls did not disappoint when he surprised Bomer with an adorable zukon for his 40th birthday.

Bomer took to Instagram to gush about the new family member in a since-deleted post: “For my birthday, Simon and the boys got me this little bundle of joy. You know, because three children, another dog, and a cat wasn’t enough. 😀I’m already in love. Hello Stella, and hello sleepless nights. 💩😭🐶🌟✨💝♌️#puppiesofinstagram #zuchon #stella#love.”

They’ve Been Married Since 2011

The couple had an intimate wedding in New York back in 2011, according to Out magazine. “It was very chill,” Bomer told the publication. “Very small: only our nearest and dearest. There’s a security, a validity of knowing that it’s legal. It’s hard to put into words. It’s just a feeling, I guess, something about saying vows in front of the people around who love and support you. I think it was good for our family.”

The two have a fairly private relationship and family life. Bomer publicly came out as gay a year after their marriage when he thanked his husband during his acceptance of the Steve Chase Humanitarian Award.
