A retro edition of Snickers will go on sale to celebrate 85 years of Mars making chocolate in the UK.

The chocolate bar will be called by its former name Marathon in a rebrand and die-hard customers couldn't be happier.

Back in July of 1990, the bars sold in the UK under the name of Marathon were replaced by the name Snickers, Manchester Evening News reports

As part of its comeback, Marathon will be sold in Morrisons as a four pack for £1.

The chocolate's brand director Gemma Buggins told the Mail on Sunday that the rebrand is only for a limited time.

"Bringing the Marathon bar branding back for a limited time really was a no-brainer," she said.

"It's a great way to celebrate more than 85 years of Mars making chocolate in the UK and we hope this serves as a wonderful treat for fans of Snickers who remember when it was called Marathon."

Many loyal fans are overjoyed their favourite chocolate bar is returning after all these years.

"About time too... I’ve refused to eat them for the last 3 decades!" one person said on Twitter.

Olympian Aly Dixon added: "Excited to announce my first double marathon attempt...its going to be tough, but I think its achievable!! Thank you to @Morrisons and @SnickersUK for making this possible!!"
