On his weekly visit with Marc Bertrand and Scott Zolak on 98.5 The Sports Hub, head coach Brad Stevens provided an update on Jayson Tatum’s status and his awaited return to the court:

Tatum was put into the COVID health and safety protocols on Saturday, January 9th. The league mandate states that players with a positive coronavirus test “even if asymptomatic, will not be allowed to exercise for a minimum of 10 days and then must be monitored in individual workouts for an additional two days.” Per Stevens, Tatum will get a workout in today in Boston to begin a measured ramp up for a possible return by the end of the week.

He is unavailable tonight against the 76ers, but Stevens calls him “50/50” for Friday’s second game of the two-game series in Philadelphia. Carsen Edwards is also currently in the health and safety protocols.

Robert Williams who tested positive two days before Tatum will be available, but could be limited. He’s practiced, but sparingly. Unlike Tatum, Williams had COVID symptoms during his quarantine. “I woke up in sweats. One night, I wasn’t able to sleep. Every five seconds, I’m pulling the cover off me and putting it back on me. It was kind of tough,” Williams said of his bout with the virus.
