Why this petition matters

Started by "A better Community for Staplehurst" Facebook group

Staplehurst, our village in Kent, has a population of 6000 and is growing as hundreds of new houses are being built in the village. Sainsbury's was all set to build a "proper" supermarket in our village and acquired the land, but then delays occurred.

The community is desperate for Sainsbury's to start building the supermarket and to open their petrol station as we may be losing our only petrol station in the village, due to further development.

It's not only the people of Staplehurst who are waiting for Sainsbury's to come to the village. There's the nearby village of Marden, there are Sissinghurst, Headcorn, Cranbrook and many smaller communities who would welcome a decent size Sainsbury's store in Staplehurst, rather than having to drive to Maidstone for their shopping needs.

We appeal to Sainsbury's to start building their supermarket in Staplehurst in 2016.
