Set the scene
This Strip favourite’s gold-gilded peacock statues, red-trimmed pool cabanas and enough fountains to rival the Romans proves that Vegas Chic is not an oxymoron.
What's the story?
The hotel-casino was the creation of Steve Wynn, a longtime Vegas casino legend until his reputation crashed and burned. Today, the hotel – and its sister tower, Encore – is separating the man from his product. His name still tops the marquee but the place is focusing more on its experiences and high-kicking design elements.
What can we expect in our room?
The deluxe tower rooms at Wynn are simple opulence in white, cream and gold with Pop Art floral paintings. All of the tech elements are controlled by a bedside panel, with Amazon Echo to do your bidding. The opulence escalates as room size increases, right up to the villas.

How about the food and drink?
There’s a lot. Whether you’re craving Italian, dim sum, fine French or a cheeseburger, you’ll find it here. All of the 21 restaurants have separate vegan and vegetarian menus for plant-based diets. Breakfast is not included in the rate, but you can ponder between fast casual and full-on buffet. Sitting down by the Lake of Dreams (man-made, of course), at Costa Di Mare or SW Steakhouse, is the best way to start a night of Vegas glitz.
Anything to stay about the service?
It can be unpredictable. Everyone is friendly and eager to help but sometimes there aren’t enough hands to go around. But the concierge are super bright and will arrange whatever you like during your stay, so long as it’s legal.
What sort of person stays here?
A little more sophisticated than at other places on the Strip. The Instagram generation. Serious shoppers. And clubbers.
What's the neighbourhood scene?
The Wynn is at the north end of the Strip which is not as hectic as the centre or south end. However, the Venetian and Palazzo are right next door (although it’s still a long walk away) and you’re closer to downtown Vegas, which is smaller and more casual character than the Strip.
Anything we missed?
Wynn has a spectacular water acrobatics show called Le Rêve, which just received a refresh in 2018 with new costumes and choreographer. Book a Dream Seat, which comes with TV cameras to show what’s happening underwater behind the scenes.
Is it worth it - why?
So worth the money. Add in all the nightlife, restaurants and bars, and you won’t even have to go outside during your stay. By Juliana Shallcross
