About the Epson Home Cinema 2350

Emily S.

A great all-purpose projector

Epson projectors are consistently customer favorites because they offer solid performance at a great price, and they work well in real-world living rooms, not just dedicated home theaters. The Home Cinema 2350 is set to continue this trend with a 2,800-lumen lamp that can deliver a big, bright image on screens up to 500". It uses Epson's updated pixel-shifting technology along with separate red, green, and blue image chips to produce a sharp 4K picture with rich, accurate colors.

Upsize your movies and games

The Home Cinema 2350 includes the Android TV streaming platform, so you can access your favorite streaming services like YouTube and HBO without having to hook up a separate source. And you can even search using your voice thanks to the remote's built-in Google Assistant. It also offers a lot for gamers to love, including low latency mode with input lag under 20ms and 1080p gaming at 120Hz.

Put it almost anywhere

Whether you place the 2350 on a table or mount it on the ceiling, the projector's vertical "lens shift" controls can help you achieve a perfectly true image. And horizontal keystone adjustments can assist if the best mounting spot is a little bit off-center. It's also compatible with rear projection.

For the best picture quality from any projector, we recommend using a projector screen.

    Audio/Video Section

3LCD: The Epson Home Cinema 2350 projector utilizes 3-chip LCD technology for amazing color, incredible detail and solid reliability. 3LCD's 3-chip architecture dedicates an entire chip to process each primary color - red, green, and blue, continuously. Unlike single-chip technology that delivers color sequentially, you get full-time color. The result is vibrant, realistic images and video all delivered with 3LCD's true-to-life color.

    • True-to-Life Colors: 3LCD delivers up to 3x brighter colors in comparison with 1-chip DLP projectors. Color Brightness (Color Light Output) measured in accordance with IDMS 15.4. Color Brightness will vary depending on usage conditions. Additionally, 3LCD projectors have up to 3x Wider Color Gamut than 1-chip DLP projectors. With its 3-chip design, 3LCD delivers clear and vibrant images that are true-to-life. In contrast to 3-chip 3LCD projectors, 1-chip DLP projectors use a rotating color wheel that spins at a rapid speed, only displaying colors sequentially, which can result in color break-up or the "rainbow effect".
    • Greater Detail & Contrast: 3LCD projection efficiently uses light to project to the screen with no color disruption. 3LCD technology delivers sharper and brighter images with superior gray-scale detail. Gray-scale is the shades of gray (from black to white) required for greater image depth and detail; it allows greater variation in shadows and brings superior accuracy to color, creating a jaw-dropping, true-to-life visual experience
    • Energy Efficient: 3LCD projection technology uses light efficiently to create stunning images. In contrast to 1-chip technology, 3LCD requires 25% less electricity per lumen of brightness. 1-chip projectors use a color wheel, which leads to an inefficient design, thereby causing light loss. 3LCD does not rely on a color wheel. On average, 3LCD projectors are 25% more energy efficient.
    • Simple & Reliable Design: 3LCD systems are reliable and use a simple optical design which includes 3 chips and 1 prism. Light flows seamlessly through the system to produce brilliant on-screen colors and sharp images every time.

High Brightness, Color, & Contrast: The Home Cinema 2350 is capable of displaying high-definition content at an exceptional 2,800 lumens of brightness (for both color & white) with a dynamic contrast ratio of 35,000:1, as well as reproduce up to 1 billion colors with 10-bit color processing for outstanding accuracy and vibrancy giving you an exceptionally rich and vivid picture.

    • Projection Lamp: The projector uses a 200-watt Ultra High Efficiency (UHE) lamp with a life span of approximately 4500 hours in the Normal mode, 7500 hours in ECO mode, or 4500 hours in High mode. The lamp (Part # V13H010L97) and air filter (Part # V13h134A54) are the only user-serviceable parts. The projection lamp is kept cool by a fan. The fan noise level is 36dB in Normal mode and 28dB in ECO mode.
    • Projection Lens: The Home Cinema 2350 employs a F1.49-1.77 projection lens that has a focal length of 18.2mm to 29.2mm. It features an optical zoom ratio of 1 to 1.62x with a manual foucs. The lens can project an image from 40" to 500" (measured diagonally).

Note: Color brightness (color light output) and white brightness (white light output) will vary depending on usage conditions. Color light output measured in accordance with IDMS 15.4; white light output measured in accordance with ISO 21118.

4K PRO-UHD Projection Technology: The Home Cinema 2350 has a native resolution of 1080p (1920x1080) and employs Epson's 4K PRO-UHD Projection Technology to create an enhanced 4K (4096x2160) image. 4K PRO-UHD Projection Technology utilizes advanced processing to deliver 4K enhanced performance and HDR (high dynamic range).

    • 4K Resolution Enhancement: Pixel-shifting technology precisely controls the projector's three individual, high definition LCD chips and shifts millions of pixels diagonally to double the resolution and surpass Full HD image quality for an enhanced 4K experience.
    • HDR (High Dynamic Range): HDR (High Dynamic Range) reproduces a greater dynamic range of luminosity or brightness levels, bringing greater contrast & wider color spectrum to the screen. This increased contrast reveals the subtle nuances of the image, from detailed blacks and shadows to the brightest whites and colors, plus greater depth. The Epson projector supports HDR10 and HLG only (not compatible with HDR10+ or Dolby Vision).

Note: Epson's 4K Pro-UHD2 Enhancement Technology can only produce 4.1 million pixels by doubling the native 1920 x 1080 pixel resolution, achieving less than half of the required 8.3 million pixels for true 4K resolution.

HDMI 2.0 (18Gbps): The Home Cinema 2350 is equipped with two HDMI 2.0 inputs (18Gbps) that are compatible with virtually all color formats, depths and spaces, while simultaneously supporting 4K/HDR content at a full 60Hz. The HDMI 1 input supports ARC (audio return channel) and can be plugged into a soundbar or AV receiver. The HDMI 2 is used for the supplied Android TV streaming player.

    • Supported Video Resolution: In addition to 4K (3840x2160) @ 24/30/50/60Hz, the HDMI inputs will also accept 1080p @24/30/50/60Hz, 1080i @ 50/60Hz 720p @ 50/60Hz, and 480p/i video resolution signals.
    • HDCP 2.2: HDCP 2.2 is supported by both HDMI inputs. HDCP 2.2 is short for "High bandwidth Digital Content Protection" and is used for 4K video copyright protection for compatibility with Ultra HD Blu-ray players, 4K Satellite/Cable providers, and ultra high definition online video services.

Note: The Home Cinema 2350 is equipped with two HDMI inputs. However, one of the HDMI inputs (HDMI 2) is already connected to the included Android TV streaming player; leaving one available HDMI input.

Low Latency Mode: The Epson Home Cinema 2350 protector's Low Latency mode delivers 120 fps (frames per second) @ 1080p video resolution with <20ms input lag time for competitive gaming performance.

    • 120 FPS (Frames Per Second): Low Latency mode provides competitive gaming performance at 1080p resolution with 120Hz refresh rate or smooth 4K PRO-UHD HDR gaming performance up to 60Hz.
    • 20ms Input Lag Time: Low Latency mode allows for responsive gaming (<20ms input lag time) with the latest generation of gaming console and even higher-end gaming PCs.

Note: The Home Cinema 2350 does not support 4K/120Hz, ALLM, VRR, or other next-gen gaming enhanced features.

Image Settings: Settings on the Image menu let you adjust the aspect ratio, color, and quality of your image for the input source you are currently using. The available settings depend on the currently selected input source.

Mounting Options: The Home Cinema 2350 can be placed on a tabletop or inverted and mounted on the ceiling. It can be used for front or rear projection. For tabletop use, you can adjust the image height by raising or lowering the two rear feet and one front foot. For ceiling mounting, you will need an optional projector ceiling mount (sold separately). Three M4 x 9mm threaded screw holes are provided on the bottom for a ceiling mount. A commercially-available Kensington security lock can be attached to the unit to prevent theft when installed in a public location.

Note: If the projector is to be used at an altitude above 4921 feet (1500 meters), the High Altitude Mode should be turned on so the fan can properly cool the projector at the high altitude air pressure.

Projection Image & Distance: The Home Cinema 2350 projector can produce an image that is adjustable from 40" to 500" (measured diagonally). The projector's adjustable lens provides a wide range of placement possibilities for a given screen size. The projection distance (distance from lens to screen) range is 45.3" to 944.9". The distance at which you place the projector from the screen determines the approximate size of the image. The projection distance can be determined from this chart:

Screen or Image Size (16:9 Aspect Ratio) Projection Distance (wide to tele) Offset From Lens Center
    40" 45.3" to 74.4" -21.7" to 2.0"
    60" 68.9" to 112.2" -32.7" to 3.1"
    80" 92.1" to 150.0" -43.3" to 4.3"
    100"
    115.7" to 187.8" -54.3" to 5.51"
    120" 139.0" to 225.6" -65.4" to 6.3"
    150" 174.4" to 282.7" -81.0" to 7.9"
    200" 232.7" to 377.2" -108 to 10.6"
    300" 349.6" to 566.5" -163.0" to 16.1"
    400" 583.9" to 944.9" -271.7" to 28.0"
    500" 583.9 to 944.9" -271.7" to 28"

Note: For screen sizes above 300", a high-gain screen and a light-controlled environment may be required.

Image Adjustment: The projector should be placed directly center and level in front of the center of the screen. If you have to place the projector closer or further away, too high or too low, at an angle to the screen, tilted up or down, or off to the side, you may need to correct the image by utilizing the Zoom Ring, Focus Slider, Lens Shift, Keystone Correction,or Quick Corner for the best display quality.

    • Zoom Ring: It the projected image does not fit the screen size, you can resize the image using the projector's manual zoom ring (1 to 1.62x).
    • Focus Slider: To sharpen the projected image's focus, you can manually adjust the projector's focus slider.
    • Lens Shift: If you cannot install the projector directly in front of the screen, you can adjust the position of the projected image using the vertical lens shift feature. The vertical position can be adjusted by up to +/-60% of the height of the screen (there is no horizontal lens shift). When adjusting the image height, position the image lower than where you want it to be and then move it up using the vertical lens shift dial. This helps prevent the image from moving down after adjustment
    • Keystone Correction: You can use the projector's horizontal keystone slider to correct the shape of an image that is unevenly rectangular horizontally, such as when the projector is placed to the side of the projection area. The horizontal keystone correction is manually adjustable from adjustable from -30° to + 30°). The projector also has vertical keystone correction that is automatically adjusted from -30° to + 30°.
    • Quick Corner: You can use the projector's Quick Corner setting to correct the shape and size of an image that is unevenly rectangular on all sides.

Detachable AC Power Cord: The Epson Home cinema 2350 comes with a detachable 9.75' AC power cord (IEC 3-prong) that plugs into the back of the projector and into an AC power outlet or surge protector/line conditioner (sold separately - see Accessories Tab).

Will this project on to a wall?

    A
Picture quality can sometimes suffer Jeannine, but you could project the Epson Home Cinema 2350 Projector directly onto a prepared wall, and I know there is paint treatments available specifically for this purpose. If you are planning on not using a matched projector screen you could also consider the brighter and higher contrast ratio Optoma UHD55 in the link below for a little bit better performance in your application! https://www.crutchfield.com/p_343UHD55/Optoma-UHD55.html

The 20' projection distance would be too far to achieve a 93" screen size with this projector. It would be necessary to place the projector between approximately 9' - 14' from the screen instead.

The Epson 2350 projector's adjustable lens provides a wide range of placement possibilities for a given screen size, Frank. The distance at which you place the projector from the screen determines the approximate size of the image, and for your 96" screen size this projector would need to be within 115.7" to 187.8" (9.5 to 15.6 feet). This would not be a good option for your setup unless you moved the projector closer to the screen OR went with a larger screen. at 20-feet a 150" screen size is a good match!
