'I'm healing up': Alicia Witt reveals she is fine a week after breast reconstruction surgery following cancer battle... and a year after parents' tragic death

Alicia Witt is on the mend after undergoing breast reconstruction surgery last week.

The 47-year-old actress underwent an S-GAP procedure at the Center for Restorative Breast Surgery in New Orleans, which uses tissue and blood vessels from the buttocks to form a new breast. 

The Modern Persuasion star revealed in May that she had undergone a unilateral mastectomy after going through chemotherapy.

In an Instagram post Thursday, the Fuzzy Head actress wrote, 'I just got the gold ⭐️ from Dr Dellacrose at @breastcenternola to prove it - one week post surgery and I’m healing up on the fast track.'

Alicia shared a picture enjoying some avocado toast at Birdy's restaurant in New Orleans with her friend, Jennifer Howell, whom she called, 'the bestest caregiver a gal could ever wish for.'

The actress looked healthy black and pink fleece jacket with short curls of her red hair peaking beneath a burnished yellow beanie in the post.

She wore a Penguin Cold Cap during chemotherapy to keep as much of her hair as possible and allowed her to work on two different projects while undergoing treatment. 

The Talk to You singer explained she lost about 45 percent of her hair even with the cap, but also credited the use of some vegan hair care products for helping thicken her mane.

The past year has been a difficult one for the Sundance Film Festival award winner. 

Her parents, Robert and Diane Witt died at their Massachusetts home last December. The coroner determined the 87 and 75-year-old died from 'probable cardiac dysrhythmia' due to the cold weather. 

Alicia had just begun chemotherapy at the times of their deaths, and kept her condition private at the time, explaining on social media that keeping her diagnosis under wraps was 'a needed part of my healing.' 

The dates of their deaths were noted as December 20, 2021, which was also the day their bodies were found in their home. Neighbors said their home did not have a working heating system for some time.
