Turning back the clock! Xavier Samuel steps out in dapper period ensemble while on set in Dublin for Jane Austen adaptation Love And Friendship

So far in his acting career he's played a vampire, a lieutenant and a guitarist.

And now Australian actor Xavier Samuel is turning back time to film new scenes for forthcoming drama Love And Friendship, an adaptation of Jane Austen’s short novel Lady Susan, originally published in 1871.

The 31-year-old channelled his inner gentleman on set in Dublin on Friday as he stepped out in period clothes, complete with a frock coat and a cravat.

Transporting back to the past, Xavier was almost unrecognisable in his dapper looking ensemble.

The handsome screen star stepped out in riding boots and off-white high waisted trousers.

He added even more layers to his costume, tying a white cravat around his neck.

An olive green and gold buttoned waist coat added a pop of colour, while a long sleeved shirt with frilly sleeves topped everything off.

Despite being dressed head to toe in his period outfit, Xavier still created his own futuristic touch by clutching onto a coffee cup and mobile phone while waiting by a trailer between takes.
