Leaving it in the past: Helen Baxendale, 45, has revealed she rejected the opportunity to return as Rachel Bradley in the upcoming reboot of Cold Feet as it 'didn't feel right'
Bullen intended for the advertising executive, who was in a relationship with Adam Williams (James Nesbitt), to appear as a ghost.
The 45-year-old actress told The Daily Telegraph: 'I was really touched he’d written Rachel into it, but I felt it wasn’t right for me, Rachel or the new series to start up again like that.
'What was great about Cold Feet is that although it flew off down all different avenues, it was really based on believing the reality of the characters.'

While the hype around the return of the show continues to grow, Baxendale said she felt no jealousy towards her former co-stars.
'Fourteen years have passed and I don’t feel wedded to the character of Rachel any more,' she explained. 'I have lots of other nice things going on.'
The brunette is a mother to Nelly, 17, Eric, 14, and Rudi, nine, and she has been married to her film director husband David Williams since 1993.

Cold Feet will pick up Downton Abbey's Sunday night slot on ITV.
Highly regarded as one of the best British comedy drama series, the show pulled in an average of eight millions viewers and won over 20 major awards including the BAFTA for Best Drama Series.
Starring Robert Bathurst, Hermione Norris, John Thomson and Fay Ripley, the show was based on the highs and lows of the relationships of three couples in their Thirties.
Thomson and Ripley portrayed Pete and Jenny Gifford, who eventually divorced due to infidelity as did Bathurst and Norris' characters David and Karen Marsden.
Made up of five series and 32 episodes, Cold Feet aired on November 15, 1998 and its final episode went out on March 16, 2003.
