Manchester United legend Roy Keane sparked frenzied comments on Twitter as he continued to sport his moustache on Sky Sports.

Keane's facial hair garnered plenty of attention during the World Cup, leaving some fans in hysterics. But social media users gave it more favourable reviews this time around as he went with a handlebar look for United's Premier League clash against Arsenal.

One supporter even compared the bristling Irishman with an adult actor from the 1970s, writing: "Why’s Keane still rocking that 70’s porn star moustache?" Someone else chimed in with: "What does Roy Keane look like with that narcos moustache?"

Another fan added: "Roy Keane’s moustache is verging on a hairy slug. It’s impressive and odd in equal measure." A fourth user joked: "No mirrors in Roy Keane’s house? That moustache."

A fifth social media wrote: "Roy Keane looks like he's wearing the world's least convincing disguise with that moustache." As another supporter went with: "Sorry but when did Roy Keane bring back the 70s porn star moustache."

Keane's moustache has replaced his iconic beard, perhaps on the advice of his mum. Speaking about his former bushy facial hair last September, he said: "When I do have a shave, within a day or two there's stubble and then you're in no-man's land." He continued by saying how some people don't like his beard, including his own mum.

"A lot of people don't like it," he said. "My mother hates it and a lot of people really mention it to me when I'm out walking by myself, so that's why I keep it."

The 51-year-old heaped praise on Arsenal youngster Bukayo Saka before the game against United, suggesting that he could play for Real Madrid in the future.

"The key for the player himself is that he looks like he goes out and enjoys the game. He looks like a really nice lad away from the game which always helps but when he’s playing, he can beat a man," Keane said.

"When you’re playing for the big clubs you need one or two players that can beat a man because that changes the picture in football matches. I like everything about him.

"I think he can go and play for any of the big clubs in Europe and play for them and i’m including Real Madrid in that. I think he’s that good. I think he’s fantastic. What a talent. I love watching him."
