Bungay Town FC had a problem: no one had ever heard of it. This was hampering crowd attendance, financial support and player acquisition. The club needed a big idea to make them famous on literally no budget. The idea was a game of football between two teams called Bungay, with 22 players called Bungay played at Bungay Town FC, Bungay, Suffolk. Even the professional referee, linesmen, physio, doctor and mascot were Bungays. The game featuring the biggest number of players with the same surname played in any sport anywhere in the world created huge impact, and the most amusing live commentary.
