Inside Out director Pete Docter has spoken after winning the BAFTA for best animation, making a plea for creativity to aid mental health.

Speaking during his acceptance speech, the filmmaker called for more people feeling "angry, scared or sad" to express themselves through art.

"Thank you BAFTA. It's amazing being here. I was fully expecting to see a charming domesticated farm animal up here," he said.

Docter went on to say: "Our film takes place inside the mind of an 11-year-old girl. That was tough to figure out – but it's not as hard as being 11.
