Suits star Rick Hoffman has explained his unimpressed face during this weekend's Royal Wedding.

The actor - who's most famous for playing Louis Litt on the USA Network drama - was one of many celebrity faces to attend the nuptials between Meghan Markle and Prince Harry at St George's Chapel in Windsor Castle on Saturday (May 19) but quickly drew attention for the wrong reason.

As the camera panned over the guests, the many, many viewers watching at home noticed a rather disgusted look on his face during the ceremony which then launched many a meme into the Twitterverse:

In response, Hoffman has explained his seemingly unimpressed expression.

Taking to Instagram on the same day, the actor explained it was a fellow guest's bad breath that led him to pull the sour face.

"Royal Wedding Face..." said the caption, followed by the hashtag "Brush Your Teeth."

"So to answer any questions about the weird face that was made at the wedding, imagine sitting next to people to your right - not knowing which person it was - that has halitosis," he said in the video.

"Um, hence the face that is apparently all over the place.

"So, it's as simple as that, Charlie. Love you guys. Yah. Halitosis. Disgusting."

While Hoffman fielded someone else's bad breath, millions of UK viewers watched the royal wedding from home.

Indeed, the service is officially the biggest TV event of the year thus far in the UK, drawing in an impressive a 18 million Brits, with 13.1 million of those all watching BBC's coverage of the event (via The Guardian).

The event also generated nearly 5.3 million mentions on social media, with pubs staying open extra hours to commemorate the occasion.

If you did miss out on the action, however, you can catch up on the day's events in Digital Spy's royal wedding gallery.
