Henry Ian Cusick will appear season 4 of action-adventure MacGyver, playing a brand new character called Russ.

Cusick is recognisable for his TV work on Lost (where he portrayed Desmond Hume) and The 100 (as Marcus Kane, although his storyline got very complicated recently).

According to Entertainment Weekly, Russ has been described by network CBS as a "handsome and quick-witted" ex-military Oxford grad.

"He is a master manipulator and salesman — skilled in propaganda and lie detection with an extremely high emotional intelligence. A very wealthy man, he's used to getting his way and not beyond enjoying the spoils of war: expensive suits, fast cars, private jets, house in Monte Carlo."

The actor seems ecstatic with his new role, as he took to Twitter to share his excitement.

Cusick's fans were quick to congratulate him too, as one individual replied: "Ian, so, so happy for you. You deserve the best roles in the world."

Two more added: "LEAD ROLE ?? THATS WHAT YOU DESERVE SO HAPPY FOR YOU" and "CBS just got a whole lot classier. Cusick Be Slaying."

Meanwhile, Cusick was feeling particularly nostalgic last year when he reunited with his Lost co-star Sonya Walger at the exact same place their characters first met on the series, much to the delight of fans.

Aww, you guyssss!
