Zoe Boyle has signed up for a role in NBC's pilot Bad Girls.

The drama, a remake of the British series of the same name, focuses on a group of women in prison.

Boyle has now joined the cast, Deadline says.

She will play a single mother who begins working at the prison as a nurse.

Meanwhile, Rick Gonzalez will star in the pilot as a former gang member who now works as a correctional officer at the prison. He is also expected to be the object of attraction for the prisoners.

Boyle previously played Trinity in Sons of Anarchy and appeared in the second season of Downton Abbey as Lavinia, while Gonzalez starred as Ben in Reaper.

News of their casting comes after Friday Night Lights actress Jurnee Smollett joined the show as a rapper who is caught by the DEA.

Bad Girls will be produced by John Wells, who previously worked on the remake of British series Shameless. His other credits include Southland, ER and The West Wing.
