New Girl has cast Maria Thayer in a guest role.
Season two of the Zooey Deschanel sitcom will see Forgetting Sarah Marshall star Thayer play a former love interest of Nick (Jake Johnson).
Amelia is slacker Nick's old acquaintance who broke his heart in college and comes back into his life, E! Online reports.
Thayer - who has appeared in episodes of House, 30 Rock and the 2009 movie State of Play - will appear in the Fox comedy's Halloween episode.
Justified actor Raymond Barry and Dazed and Confused star Parker Posey have also signed up for roles on season two of New Girl, while Lizzy Caplan - who play Nick's girlfriend Julia in the first season - has also expressed an interest in returning.
The series returns with a double-bill of new episodes on Tuesday, September 25 at 8/7c on Fox. New Girl airs on E4 in the UK.
