Two of the United States' most popular comedies will collide in the next series of Brooklyn Nine-Nine and we're already excited.

Not only do we have the New Girl/Brooklyn Nine-Nine crossover to look forward to, but we're also being treated to another recognisable face in Andy Samberg's cop comedy while we wait.

Jim O'Heir, best known as loveable buffoon Jerry on Parks and Recreation will swap over to Brooklyn Nine-Nine in a guest role in the show's fourth season.

O'Heir is set to appear in episode two, playing a police officer who comes across Jake (Andy Samberg) and Captain Holt (Andre Braugher) while the pair are hiding out in Florida under their witness protection programme.

Brooklyn Nine-Nine's co-creator Michael Schur also created Parks and Recreation, so O'Heir's casting comes as less of a surprise and more of a very welcome case of keeping it in the family.

In fact, it's not even the first time a Parks and Rec veteran has joined the cop squad after Nick Offerman guest-starred as one of Holt's ex-boyfriends last season.

O'Heir won't be the only guest star in season four either as episode two will see Ken Marino make an appearance as Holt's replacement captain. Other celebrity guests in the season include Maya Rudoph, Rhea Perlman and Jorma Taccone.

Brooklyn Nine-Nine will return to Fox on September 20, while E4 airs the show in the UK.
